It is learned from Kyaung Thaung Gyi police station that two male suspects accused of killing and robbing a Chinese national by stabbing in Shwe Lin Ban industrial zone, Hlinetharyar Township, Yangon Region have been arrested on May 14.
A police officer from this Kyaung Thaung Gyi police station, speaking on May 15, said, “Yes, we have arrested them. They have just arrived from Region Police Office. We are continuing investigation into this case.”
According to the police, the two suspects riding a motorcycle faked an accident with the car driven by the Chinese national on Tun Nyo Street, Shwe Lin Ban industrial zone on May 11 in the evening. In the statement issued by Yangon Region Police Force, the Chinese driver got out of his car to look at the damage to the door, a quarrel ensued, and the Chinese national did not seem giving them the compensation they wanted.
This Chinese national was reportedly killed by stab wounds to his chest and abdomen at the crime scene.
“Now they have been remanded for police custody for two weeks and they are being interrogated at our police station. The Chinese embassy in Myanmar has not made contact with us yet. We will add more charges against them after more offences are found committed in further investigation of this case. Currently they are charged with section 302 of Penal Code (murder),” the police officer from Thaung Gyi police station said.
The deceased was reportedly working in a construction company in Shwe Lin Ban industrial zone.
These two suspects live in Hlinetharyar Township. The police arreested suspect Ye Ko Ko first and then another suspect Han Win Tun aka Nga Pway who was on the run was arrested in Taikkyi Township later.
Thaung Gyi Police station in Hlinetharyar Township registered case against these two suspects Ye Ko Ko and Han Win Tun aka Nga Pway under section 302 of Penal Code (murder) with case number (Pa) 1126/2020.
