The German government has awarded 1.38 million Euros through the WHH and Metta Development Foundation for humanitarian aid to people in Kachin and Shan states.
Both states have large numbers of displaced people adversely effected by periodic clashes between ethnic armies and the government.
Ethnic armies in Kachin and Shan states did not sign the recent National Ceasefire Agreement between the government and ethnic armies.
The foundation assists the local population by improving the living condition of refugees and by assisting them in returning to the home communities.
