Goldsmith Thinkha told Mizzima that he would provide free goldsmith training to unemployed youths who had little job opportunities in honour of newly elected President Htin Kyaw from National League for Democracy (NLD).
“Education in the country is at a low level under the rule of the current government. They could not provide employment to the people. Most of the youths from the age of 27-28 have very few job opportunities. So I intend to provide them with job training so they can stand on their own two feet,” he said.
He went on to say that currently he would provide training to youths with little education and who have very few job opportunities.
The training will start in the last week of April and he will accept 20 trainees in the first batch. Interested youths can enrol for the training at Mom’s Love charity school at Ward No. 2, North Okkalapa Township from today and the training will be free, he said.
Principal Thida from Mom’s Love charity school at North Okkalapa Ward No. 2 said that charity schools run by the education network would be shifting to vocational training from formal schoolingafter the new government assumes office.
“Under the rule of Mommy Suu (Aung San Suu Kyi) we will emphasize and focus on modernizing and developing the education system. We discussed this issue at the networks’ meetings. So we have a plan to provide vocational training to the students,” she said.
