The Yangon Urban Guerrilla Army (YUGA) attacked the Criminal Investigation Department in Insein Township, Yangon, with two remote-controlled mines at about 10:40 p.m. on 23 April.

They also used four remote-controlled mines in a follow-up attack on the junta soldiers who arrived to inspect the scene of the initial bombing.

There are no casualty figures but the YUGA claims that many junta soldiers were possibly killed or injured in the attack.

“We can’t confirm their casualty numbers because the junta is keeping that information secret. We know that many soldiers arrived to inspect the site of the [first] explosions”, said a YUGA official.

Locals in North Dagon, Thingangyun, North Oakkalapa, Mingalardon, Thaketa, and Insein townships in Yangon, heard the sounds of heavy explosions and gunfire coming from the area of the attack between 10:40 pm and 10:50 pm.

The Yangon Northern Region People Defense Force and the Yangon Urban Guerrilla Army (YUGA) claimed responsibility for the attacks.
