Zaw Moe Lwin, the ward administrator of the Pyi Gyi Yan Lone quarter of Mandalay’s Aung Mye Thazan Township was shot twice on 3 April, according to a local resident.

“The incident happened this afternoon. He was well known as a Military Council informant who willingly assisted the junta in apprehending anti-coup activists. He got several cautions from the local PDF, this is what he deserves”, explained a local resident.

He was shot by unknown assailants as he went to the administration office. He got bullet wounds in the left side of his chest and the right side of his stomach, according to a source from the local police force.

The authorities are investigating the case. Nobody has claimed responsibility for the killing.

The Military Council has been unable to protect its administrators from such threats.
