U Htay Hlaing, a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), was shot dead by TTA guerrillas (Taungtha) in Yargyitaw West village in Kyaukpadaung township, Mandalay region on October 26.

The TTA guerrillas (Taungtha) reportedly fired up to 10 shots as U Htay Hlaing resisted with a sword and threw bricks during the shooting.

A local said that U Htay Hlaing was identified by many people in the village as an informant (Dalan).
