A US employee-led initiative has led to Denso Manufacturing, an auto parts maker in Battle Creek in the USA, donating $72,237 to provide humanitarian aid to crisis-hit Myanmar, Yahoo News reports.

In a ceremony at the facility, Burma Center Executive Director Tha Par accepted a check on behalf of the Springfield-based nonprofit that will allow it to provide housing, food, health care and other essential resources to Myanmar amid escalating political violence.

Fundraising was spearheaded by a Denso production team, which rallied more than 400 employees to raise $36,000 of their own money toward aid for Myanmar. Denso's thermal manufacturing facility and its North American headquarters in Southfield matched the employee donations, the report says.

The company has an active resource group, Denso Burmese Network, that stepped up to help.

Myanmar is in the midst of crisis following the February 2021 military coup.
