U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet urges the world to step up pressure on Myanmar's junta to end the violence against the country's people and quickly restore civilian rule, says a spokesman for Ms. Bachelet, Rupert Colville. He adds "it is time for an urgent, renewed effort to restore human rights and democracy in Myanmar".
