Two military vessels attacked with RPG in Mandalay Region’s Se Mi Khone port

Two military vessels that had landed tanks at the Se Mi Khone port on the Ayeyarwady River in Mandalay’s Myingyan Township, were attacked by local guerrillas armed with RPGs at around 4.30 am on 1 March, according to Min Day Wa, a member of the Civilian's Defense and Security Organization of Myaung (CDSOM) in Myaung Township.

He said: "We shot at the vessels with the RPG first, then a 40mm mortar. One of the shells hit a military vessel and it sank. The other vessel had a tank on board. Some three civilian ships were also captured by the junta. In the morning, many ambulances arrived there. At least 19 troops were killed."

The fighting lasted about 30 minutes, before the resistance fighters fled losing two pistols in the process.

About 100 junta troops in two military vessels had been anchored and stationed in the area for about six months.

The attack was jointly arranged by alliance forces including the CDSOM, PDF-TALOKE, the People's Army (Myaung) - MUA, Eagle guerrilla group, Myinmu Civil Revolution Force, Peacock Fighter, Burmese Guerrilla Force-BG, 27 Revolution Force, MDY PDF, Bo Sar Guerrilla Group, Myay Lat - One More, MGN RAINGER, MGN TIGER and Gangsters with Beautiful Hearts.
