Twenty bodies were found after a landslide occurred in the YTT Yadanar Taung Tan site between Hpa-Pyin Hmaw and Meling Jaung Hmaw in Hpakant Township, Kachin State.

A landslide occurred at a quarry where miners were searching for jade at around 9 pm on 28 February, burying nearly 50 employees and four backhoes in the mining waste.

The company searched for some of backhoes and the bodies buried in the mining waste at night and designated the landslide area as a restricted area and did not allow outsiders to enter the area.

A shop owner near the site of the landslide said that the bodies of the victims were buried at Maclinjong Cemetery.
