A total of 12 military troops, including a captain, were killed in a Local People's Defense Forces attack on the 77th Brigade of the military council which has about 120 troops on the hill east of Wetthainn village between Kanbalu and Kawlin districts in Sagaing Region.

Kanbalu Tiger Rangers announced in a statement on December 19 that a clash took place near the Wetthainn village on December 16 between the 77th Brigade of the military council and about 35 members from Kanbalu Tiger Rangers, Kanbalu Brotherhood team, and the Kyunhla underground team.

During the clash, the military council used heavy weapons and machine guns but there were no casualties to PDF members.
