The current Second Parliament’s term lasts till the end of January, 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic is currently out of control in Yangon and Mandalay for that reason parliament will not be reconvened.

Phyo Zeyar Thaw, a Pyithu Hluttaw (People's Assembly) member from Zabu Thiri Township who stays at the Municipal Guest House in Naypyidaw where MPs live, said that they had been ordered to pack up their things. Most lawmakers say they have not yet received an official notification that the second parliament will not be convened.

Thaung Aye, a Pyithu Hluttaw (People's Assembly) member from Pyawbwe Township, said that from his personal point of view, the Speakers of the Hluttaw should make a closing speech and make an official announcement. Second Session of Pyithu Hluttaw and the National Assembly convened its 17th regular session from July 3 to August 27.

The last call is due in January, 2021. But the third session of the union parliament will start in early February with the winners of the 2020 general election.
