Ten NLD supporters’ houses sealed off, one set on fire, in Mandalay’s Natogyi Township

The Myanmar junta has sealed off 10 houses of National League for Democracy (NLD) supporters and set fire to one house in Pan Pin Taw village, Natogyi township, Mandalay region, according to local residents.

These houses were sealed off with a name list at around 7 a.m. on December 28.

The house of Ko Toe, a villager, was also allegedly a home where People’s Defence Force (PDF) activists live and they set it on fire.

In addition, a local resident told Mizzima that junta troops went house-to-house in the village, breaking valuable propriety in at least 15 houses. Valuable belongings were taken away in military vehicles.

“Some 80 junta troops came to houses in the village with the list reported by Win Myint, an informant before he died,” the resident said. “Now, the houses on the list were sealed off. They took not only the rice bags, cooking oil cans, dried fish but also gold and cash. When they came to the village, local residents ran away. No one was arrested today."

According to local residents, this is the fifth time that the junta’s troops have raided the Pan Pin Taw village, which has more than 100 houses. In recent days, seven youths have been arrested on suspicion of being members of the PDF, but they have not yet been released.
