The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that the military junta had been extracting natural resources such as forests, mining and gems, and strengthening their forces to torture and kill the people.
  • Captain Zero, a CDM captain, said that NUG Ministry of Defence had been setting specific military objectives and plans to establish areas of influence, and that they had also been providing effective support in the areas where they intend doing this.
  • There are campaigns to sell NUG bonds for the success of the revolution. They are being sold by representatives. The NUG announced the list of representatives from whom the bonds can be bought in Japan.
  • There was a meeting between Ms. Amanda Milling, Minister of Asian Affairs from the UK government’s foreign department, and Daw Zin Mar Aung, the NUG Union Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • The NUG Ministry of Defence announced that over 2000 junta soldiers had died and more than 600 others had been injured from 2 February to 6 March.

Revolution Activities

  • In Hlaing Township in Yangon Region, a member of the NLD, a former military officer and two young people were arrested in Ward (8) on Monday night.
  • On International Women Day, there was a rally in Yangon in honor of women helping to bring about the downfall of the military dictatorship.

  • Somewhere in Yangon, young women marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, junta soldiers sexually assaulted a 42-year old woman named Ma Aye Aye Win from Innge Daunt Village and killed her. According to local people, they also killed her three-year old daughter.
  • In Loikaw Township in Karenni State, a mortar fired by the junta army fell into Lwehtwe Village at 12:30 pm Tuesday. Reportedly, three children playing under a tree died, and their father and a 15-year old girl were injured.
  • At about 7:00 pm on Monday, the junta army dropped powerful bombs onto the school in Dawngankha Ward (2) in Dimawso Township.
  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, there was a heavy fighting between the junta army and a local PDF near Kantha-Latpandaw Village from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday, the junta army shot mortars at the IDPs in Latpandaw village monastery. Consequently, 2 young boys, their mothers and 2 other people died on the spot.
  • On the 394th day of protest, a rally in Kalay led by women marched against the military dictatorship on International Women’s Day.
  • On Tuesday morning, local people from Salingyi Township marched against the military dictatorship on the 363rd day of their protest.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Hpakant, where the internet has been blocked for seven months, 300 people protested against the dictators in Russia and Myanmar, showing that they stand with the Ukrainian people. They also expressed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, youths expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning by chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Monday, 116 CSOs in Myanmar released a statement calling on the UN Human Rights Council to carry out referral to ICC for lawsuit against terrible crimes of the military junta.
  • Reportedly, the junta armed forces arrested 36 students and people all across the country for no apparent reason, including a LGBT and a hearing-impaired person. They also shot dead Ko Nyi Min Thu, the former chair of the Basic Education Students’ Union.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Karenni State, the KNDF conducted two guerrilla attacks at the junta army camps based in Fruso Township. Reportedly, two junta soldiers, including an officer, died.
  • In Dimawso Township, the junta armed forces conducted 19 bomb attacks with fighter jets and military helicopters on Monday and Tuesday. According to a local PDF, a church and 15 houses were damaged.
  • In Moenyin in Kachin State, local PDFs led by the KIA attacked the junta army stationed on the university campus at about 3:00 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, 12 junta soldiers including a captain died.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that they had caught 4 men and 2 women who were involved in robbery at KBZ Bank in Thipaw Township of Shan North.
  • According to the junta ministry of commerce, the price of cooking oil has been increasing in the country since the end of February and so, they have controlled prices to keep them fair.
  • According to the junta news, a delegation of high-ranking police officers led by the junta chief police Than Hlaing, attended the 40th ASEANAPOL Conference in Phnom Penh in Cambodia from 1 to 4 March.
  • The junta Ministry of Information announced that the military junta had revoked the citizenship of five more people, including the singer Saung Oo Hlaing and the MP Daw Phyu Phyu Thin.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health, nearly 600,000 people were infected with COVID-19 and 19,400 people died of the disease in Myanmar in just one day.

Summary on 9 March

  • Causing great losses, the military junta has been conducting airstrikes in Karenni State on a daily basis. They have also been committing war crimes by shooting at houses and schools.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been setting fire to villages every day. They raped a mother and ruthlessly killed her child. For such crimes, the whole military must be held accountable.
  • In Yangon and Mandalay, there were protests against the military dictatorship as well as many revolutionary activities.
