The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In the report on People’s Defensive War on Wednesday, U Yi Mon, the NUG Minister of Defense, stated that the interim public administrations have started in the areas under PDF control.
  • U Aung Myo Min, the NUG Minister of Human Rights, said that there was a meeting with the Ambassador of Global Crimes and Justice under the U.S Foreign Ministry and they had discussed cooperating with the NUG for justice after a statement by the U.S government about the genocide committed by the junta army against the Rohingya people.
  • At the meeting of United Nations Disarmament Commission for 2022, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, called on member states to prohibit countries selling weapons and related technology to the Myanmar Army to block the junta army’s access to weapons.
  • At 1:00 pm on 1 April, there was a meeting of the Committee on the Interim Public Judiciary Affairs. Man Win Khine Than, Union Prime Minister and Chair of the Committee, and Ministry of Judiciary Affairs attended.

Revolution Activities

  • According to the AAPP, up to 1,730 people lost their lives since the military coup until 5 April.
  • On Monday, Dr. Than Htike, the Vice-Chair of the Mon State Livestock Association, was sentenced to five years in prison under the Terrorist Law without any evidence by the junta court.
  • In Mandalay Region, Sagaing Region, Tanintharyi Region and Chin State, there were explosions at the junta fire department, municipal office, revenue department, stations of the junta armed forces and the junta convoys. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • In Patheingyi Township in Mandalay Region, local revolutionary forces conducted explosions at a tax office, fire station and municipal office on the city road at 10:00 am Wednesday. However, only two bombs exploded at the municipal office and casualty numbers are still unknown.
  • In Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region, a rally of villagers marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, raising anti-junta banners.
  • In Tanintharyi Region, a convoy of 6 military trucks was attacked with mines by a combined force of two PDFs near Kade Village on Tuesday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • In Longlone Township, youths conducted an anti-junta movement on Wednesday afternoon.
  • Pulaw PDF called on the public not to take part in fun activities organized by the military junta and to keep away from military convoys.
  • On Wednesday, Yangon people carried out an indoors strike against the water festival organized by the military junta. They also expressed their desire that they would just participate in the revolutionary Thingyan.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, the Military Dictatorship Revolution Force conducted a mine attack on the compound of the Wa Wa Win Construction Company where the junta army had been stationed.
  • On Wednesday morning, Yangon youths protested against the military dictatorship, hanging a banner saying ‘Revolution is not a festival’.
  • On 17 March, Ma Thinzar Htet Moe, a student of Political Science at Yangon University, was sentenced to three years in prison under Section (505-A) at the junta court in Bago.
  • On the 423rd day of protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Minkin Township in Sagaing Region, a PDF warned the public not to use the Monywa-Yagyi-Kalaywa road section. On Tuesday, a car, which had passed a military convoy, was hit with mines and 6 people died.
  • On the 392nd day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Kani Township, the junta army raided Lapo Village on 2 April and set fire to 10 huts. Reportedly, they also robbed people’s belongings and domesticated animals. According to a local PDF, junta soldiers beat and arrested a villager as well.
  • In Pale Township, Pale Jokers PDF conducted an event on the completion of their training Batch (1).
  • In Khin-U Township, a troop of about 100 junta soldiers set fire to 25 villages.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, local people protested against the military dictatorship. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Sezin Village in Hpakant Township, there were anti-junta posters calling for participation in the Revolutionary Thingyan on Wednesday.
  • In Pathein District in Ayeyarwaddy Region, 34 PDF members were arrested and two others died in explosion attacks and junta-informer clearance operations, starting from 5 May 2021. According to PSTF spokesperson, this has caused them to suspend their attacks.
  • In Paletwa in Chin State, four young people were each sentenced to two years in prison at the junta court on Tuesday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Maitone Township in Shan East, the UWSA invaded an area regarded as the headquarters of RCSS/SSA by the military junta.
  • According to the KNU, the junta armed forces were back at Mawki Camp in the south of Myawaddy on Wednesday afternoon, after it was cleared by KNLA in the middle of March.
  • The KNU stated that it was no longer okay to join hands with the PPST, whether they had a chance to resign or not, due to different political objectives.
  • On Wednesday afternoon, the junta armed forces set fire to Ramtain Village on the Kyauktu-Matupi road section on the border of Magwe Region and Chin State. According to CDF Matupi, local people had to run away.
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, there were battles between the junta army and Karen combined force near Kadala Village on Sunday and Monday. According to KNDF, six junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • Reportedly, the new Indian ambassador to Myanmar presented his credentials to the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing on Wednesday.
  • According to the junta Central Bank, the accounts of the government and ministries were not included in the bank accounts that must exchange any foreign currency they receive for Myanmar Kyats within a day.
  • In Kawa Township in Bago Region, the mother of a student was hit with a bullet at Thetkala High School at 10:30 am Wednesday when a junta soldier accidentally discharged his gun.
  • Dr. Thet Khine Win, the junta health minister, said that all remaining bachelor degree courses at medical and related universities would be reopened in April and May.
  • The military junta announced that the 57th Myanmar Gems & Jewellery Event would be held at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw from 22 to 28 April.
  • According to the junta media, construction activities for the Yangon side of the Dala Bridge, which celebrates friendly relations between Myanmar and Korea will start soon.
  • On Tuesday, Myanmar’s Timber Enterprise under the junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced that they would suspend production of teak and other hard wood for one year in 2022-23 fiscal year to help sustain forests and resources in the country.
  • In Sittway in Rakhine State, Walking Thingyan will be included in the water festival.
  • On Wednesday morning, U Nyi Pu, the former Chief Minister of Rakhine State, and U Min Aung, the former Municipal Minister, were each fined 50,000 MMK under the a section of the election law.
  • In an interview with local media, the Director of the Copyright and Registration Department said that they had arrested and investigated the publisher of a book based on the case of man-to-man sexual exploitation.

Summary on 7 April

  • The military junta has been arranging to reopen universities, tours, flights and gems fairs. As they are badly in need of foreign currency, they are forcing the public to exchange their money for Myanmar Kyats. It hurts business people as well as the country’s economy. Maybe, they are doing this on purpose.
  • In Sagaing and Magwe regions and Karen, Karenni and Chin states, there have been battles against the junta army. In Yangon, Mandalay, Tanintharyi and Ayeyarwaddy, there were protests against the military dictatorship and revolutionary guerilla activities.
