Spring Revolution Daily News for 6 August 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • According to Anti-Coup Committee (Korea), they have conducted ‘2Y2M Lucky Winner’ to commemorate the anniversary of their donation to the NUG via the One Day Challenge and the amount worth US$2 million. 
  • On 3 August, Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) donated their monthly fund worth UD$1 million to the NUG via the One Day Challenge. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Sagaing Region, the junta army has invaded the western part of Ye-Oo Township. Consequently, over 5,000 people from 10 local villages have had to run away. 
  • In Myaung Township, a combined force of local PDFs attacked Kyaukyit Police Station. Reportedly, 3 junta members died and 10 others were injured. 
  • In Northern Myaung Township, PDFs conducted an attack artillery shells on Kanni (Pyusawti) Village at about 9:30 am Friday. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe continued their anti-junta march on Friday. 
  • In Indaw Township, there was a battle between the junta armed forces and a combined force of Kachin Independence Army (KIA) + PDF on Nabar Crossroads. Reportedly, a civilian lost his life and two others were injured. 
  • In the southern part of Kantbalu Township, the junta armed forces have invaded the area and set fire to local villages. Reportedly, more than 3,000 people have had to run away and they have been in need of assistance. 
  • In Kathar Township, the junta armed forces have been invading villages along Ayeyarwady River. Subsequently, over 1,500 people from 6 villages have had to run away. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of Yinmabin and Salingyi marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, two PDF members lost their lives due to the gunfire of the junta army near Thabyaybin Village and a gun was lost. 
  • Between Naungcho and Kyaukme in Northern Shan State, there was a mine attack on a junta army car somewhere on the way up Goatdwin at about 12:30 pm Friday. 
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, Dawei Democratic Movement Strike Committee conducted a campaign against the junta army products and had an anti-junta public talk. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Hpapun District under the control of Karen National Union Brigade (5) in Kayin State, there were 189 local battles in July. 
  • The Cobra Column has been conducting a public campaign for 5,000 lakh MMK, calling for public contribution. Reportedly, it will last for one month from 1 August to 1 September. 
  • According to Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF), there were 33 battles against the junta armed forces in July. Reportedly, 84 junta soldiers died. 
  • In the eastern part of Demoso Township in Karenni State, Second Captain Ku Lee Ye lost his life in the battle between the junta army and Karenni Army on 2 August. 
  • In Kanpetlet Township of Chin State, a member of local CDF lost his life in a mine accident while doing the clearance operations in the area. 

The Military Council 

  • In the report by the Burmese Women’s Union, it was mentioned that 21 women had lost lives due to the killing of the junta army throughout the country in July. 
  • According to the junta Gas Vehicle Department under Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise, they have been strengthening some CNG shops in Yangon with the gas from some off-shore projects since the last week of July. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, they, in cooperation with Myanmar Geosciences Society, have been doing work to make Mount Popa in Kyaukbadaung Township of Mandalay Region into a national geopark.

  • The military junta has been issuing notifications about fuel oil and gas. It may imply the possibility of fuel oil shortage. 
  • In Sagaing Region, the number of displaced people has been on the rise due to violent activities of the junta armed forces. They have been urgently in need of assistance, especially the need for snake venom.
