The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG announced that they had sold over 70,000 bonds and those who buy their bonds in April would also get the gift of postcards by Ko Min Ko Naing.
  • In April, the NUG will be one-year old. Reportedly, there would be a march by Myanmar people in Washington D.C.
  • Revolution Activities
  • On the 4th day of matriculation exam, there was a bomb explosion at a high school in Kanbauk Area of Yebyu Township in Taninthayi Region.
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, Latbadaung Taung General Strike led a march on Monday, showing their support for prisoners who protested in Monywa Prison and against the violence in there.
  • In Latbadaung Area, local people marched against violence in Monywa Prison.
  • In Monywa Township, youth from Basic Education Students’ Union hung a banner - ‘Support the protest in prison’ on Bogyoke Road.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army set fire to Ngatingyi Village on Sunday. Reportedly, over 500 houses were burnt down and more than 30 people including women were held captive.
  • As a 390-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • According to a member of the Unity Force Monywa, a combined force of 10 PDFs fired 7 60mm grenades at Salingyi Township Police Station.
  • In North Dagon Myothit Township of Yangon Region, there were exchanges of fire between junta soldiers and PDF members near a MyTel telecom tower at Bohmu Bahtoo Market.
  • In Mayangone Township, Yangon, UG conducted a bomb attack on a police station in Ward (5) at 8:00 am Monday. Reportedly, there might be casualties among members of the junta armed forces.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, a rally of the Basic Education General Strike Committee and local people carried out a night protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Phyonebu Village of Yesagyo Township, 72 houses were burnt to ashes. Reportedly, the junta armed forces have been setting fire to no less than 9 villages.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, the junta army shot mortars into villages at 4:00 am Monday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army invading Taungpyaut Area shot dead 2 local people and set fire to houses.
  • According to Mandalay Ranger Force–PDF, they had to cancel the setting off of an explosion on Monday morning in Mandalay due to the danger it might pose to the public.
  • On Sunday, local PDF conducted a mine attack on the junta army invading Maddaya. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and 10 others were injured.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Karen State, there was a heavy fighting between the junta army and a KNLA combined force near Tawnaw Waterfall on Kawkarait-Myawaddy Asia Road, starting from 7:00 am Monday. Reportedly, up to 4 cars, which passed along the road, were set on fire.
  • In Paletwa Township of Chin State, a combined force of CDFs attacked the junta army camp at the entrance to Sami Town at 8:00 pm Sunday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.

The Military Council

  • The junta Yangon regional government announced that Maha Bandula Road from Sule Pagoda Road to Pansodan Road and Sule Pagoda Road from Anawrata Road to Trader Road would be closed temporarily for celebrating the water festival and an art performance at Yangon City Pandal.
  • To export Myanmar bananas, the junta Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation has been making an effort to sign agreements on the health of plants and animals with China.
  • The junta Central Bank announced that local people with foreign income must open accounts at the banks with AD license and exchange it for Myanmar money within a working day.
  • Despite constant battles and cars being shot at, the junta newspaper stated that there were vehicles travelling normally on the Myawaddy-Kawkarait Asia Road.
  • The military junta released a statement calling for people to report anybody who is causing instability in the local money market.

Summary on 4 April

  • The military junta announced that foreign remittance must be exchanged for Myanmar currency on the same day of its arrival. This applies to importers and exporters as well as farmers. It might show that they are in desperate need of foreign currency. Or they might do it on purpose to hamper the revolution and make life harder for the public.
  • As for Karen State and Sagaing Region, they had heavy battles. In Sagaing, the junta army committed war crimes and human rights violations by setting fire to whole villages and killing people.
