Spring Revolution Daily News for 4 October 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· The NUG called on the European Union and the ASEAN Governmental Human Rights Commission to hold an authentic discussion on human rights only with the legitimate representatives of Myanmar people.

· The military junta joined the EU-ASEAN Civil Society Organizations’ Forum held in Brussels of Belgium on Tuesday. Regarding it, Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG released a statement.

· At 12:00 pm Sunday, there was a meeting between Township People’s Administration-NUG and Villages’ People Administration in a village of Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region.

· On Monday, there was a meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and Township People’s Administration Teams from Bago Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Yangon Region and Taninthayi Region.

· On Monday, there was a meeting (39/2023) between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.

· The NUG released a statement, expressing their surprise for the CSO Forum which allowed the military junta killing people including children and students to be present at the event.

· According to Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG, it is likely to continue raining in most areas of the country during the first week of October since the monsoon is leaving late.

Revolution Activities

· In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched in support of Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun and against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.

· In Indaw Township, the abbot of Pintin Village was found dead with knife wounds near Pinwe Village.

· There was a mine attack on a gate of the junta’s Northwest Military Headquarters in Monywa. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and 2 others were injured.

· In Yinmabin Township, there was an attack on Aung Zayya Hill where the junta force had been stationing on Monywa-Yargyi Road. Reportedly, 3 policemen died and 3 guns were confiscated.

· In Monywa Township, there was an attack on the gate at the junta police station in Tharzi Village. Reportedly, 2 junta members died.

· In Nyaunglebin Township of Bago Region, there has been heavy fighting between the junta army and the PDFs in Bazunmyaung Village. Reportedly, the junta soldiers have been setting fire to the people’s houses.

· The 4 regiments of Mandalay District PDFs will form an alliance to be able to hand over Mandalay back to its people.

· According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), 4,137 civilians including two little girls aged 6 months have lost lives due to the military junta from 1 February 2021 to 2 October 2023.

· According to the statement of an urban guerrilla force, they shot dead an importer of weapons for the military junta in downtown Yangon.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Karenni State, a convoy of over 30 military trucks has been attacked along the way. Reportedly, they have not reached their destination even after more than two months for a journey which normally takes just 4 hours.

· According to International Mindat K'Cho Organization (IMCO) on Monday, 3 donor groups supported CDF Mindat with 40 guns and ammunition in Chin State.

· The Karen National Union responded that the meeting between their former Chair and the military junta had been just the junta’s action to cause misunderstanding among the alliance of revolution forces fighting for the end of the military dictatorship and the formation of a federal union.

· In Titain of Chin State, PDF-Zoland arrested 4 junta policemen on Monday.

· In Hpapun District under the KNU, there were 84 battles between Karen National Liberation Army Brigade (5) and the junta army from 1 to 30 September. Reportedly, both sides lost members.

· Mindat CDF released a video in which one of their snipers had shot at the junta gate on entrance to town.

The Military Council

· In Taninthayi Township, the driver of Chan Myay Parami Health Support Group was arrested by the military junta. So far, he has been out of contact.

· According to the junta Investment Commission, they approved of 6 investments in electricity, industry and hotel and tourism, worth 72.98 million USD and 314,739.141 million MMK. They added that it would create over 2,600 job opportunities.

· In the 6 months of 2023-24 fiscal year, 820,000 tons of beans were exported, earning over 680 million USD.

· Dr. Zaw Win, a member of the junta’s Yangon City Development Committee, stated that they had succeeded producing the fertilizer out of the waste from sewage.

· The junta Deputy Director of the junta Commerce Department stated that buyers would be able to trust online shops which are registered.

Summary on 4 October

· Supporting the military junta is like supporting murderers. Thus, international organizations should take caution about that.

· The military junta might act to divide the EAOs and the revolution forces. This is an issue to be cautious about.
