Spring Revolution Daily News for 4 March 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Ministry of Human Rights-NUG announced that they would try their best to take action against the ruthless killing of the junta army Regiment (33) against a PDF leader and 14 innocent people in Tartain Village of Sagaing Township. 
  • According to the Minister of Human Rights-NUG, Myanmar Human Rights Commission has been silent about the violent activities of the military junta and thus, they are incompetent according to international standards. He also pointed out that the invitation of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions to such a commission to attend their annual meeting is just an insult to Myanmar people. 
  • At an IDP camp in Kani Township, there was an educational funfair along with prize giving at an interim school of the NUG. 
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting (9/2023) between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and District People’s Administrative Teams. 
  • According to the leader of local administrative team, the NUG has over 80% of the area under their control in Pale Township of Sagaing Region. 
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG stated that Ministries need to meet with the focal persons of respective townships, listen to their voices and solve problems. 

Revolution Activities 

  • For those who lost lives in Sutpyagyin Battle in Dibeyin Township of Sagaing Region, 3 junta soldiers were attacked by PDFs on the way to a gate in Butalin Township. Reportedly, all of them died. 
  • In Tartain Village, the junta army raped and killed 3 local women. They also inserted onions into their female organs. 
  • In Minkin Township, there were attacks via mortars and mines on the junta army invading the area. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died. 
  • For the fire victims in Sagaing Region, the S&C has been building houses. Reportedly, they have opened one more school for the IDPs. 
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta army set fire to Kyigan Village. They also burnt some people to death. 
  • In memory of Ko Zin Myo Maung who was shot dead by the junta army two years ago, Kalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Friday. 
  • In Chaung-U Township, the junta army set fire to the houses in Khinmon Village and arrested the villagers as hostages. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta army shot dead 4 local men and burnt nearly 1000 houses in local villages. 
  • Somewhere in Monywa, there was an event on Friday in memory of those who lost lives on Phayani Road or Martyrs’ Road in Monywa due to the junta army on 3 March 2021. 
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, there were mine attacks on military convoys and troops. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In front of the Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo of Japan, Myanmar people called on the Japanese government to stop their financial support to Myanmar (ODA). 
  • Somewhere in North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, Basic Education Students Union conducted an anti-junta movement on Friday in memory of the junta’s violent crackdown on the local rally two years ago. 
  • In Hleku Township, 5 people including a child were killed by junta soldiers and Pyusawti. Reportedly, they were the family members of Ko Win Soe, the joint focal person of Hawk Revolution Squad-HRS. The HRS also announced that they would take revenge to obtain justice. 
  • Upon the reports to take action against those who made false claims against Daw Aung San Su Kyi and those acting against the policies of the party, the National League for Democracy-NLD dismissed U Phyo Min Thein, Daw Sandar Min, U Toe Lwin and U Win Myint. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In the statement on the 74th Pao National Day, the Pao Armed Forces-PAF claimed that in cooperation with their alliance with the common goal, they have been fighting against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Hpa-Ang District under Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (7), there was a 4th graduation at No. (1) High School on Friday. 

The Military Council 

  • In Kayin State, there were battles near Kawkarait on Myawaddy-Kawkarait Asia Road starting from 2:30 pm Thursday. Afterwards, the junta army shot heavy artillery into the neighbourhood of the town until Friday morning. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that 2800 million eggs had been produced from April to December in 2022-23 fiscal year. 
  • According to the junta Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance, up to 700 lakh MMK has been loaned per farmer since 2017. 
  • The military junta announced that the weapons of the KNU/PDF had been confiscated after a battle against the security forces in Kyaikto Township. 
  • According to the junta Border Trade Department, goods worth 5 to 8 million USD have been exported daily via Myanmar-Thai Myawaddy Border Trade Camp. 

Summary on 3 March 

  • The military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing has been committing war crimes by killing people in groups. Regarding such mass murders, the Minister of Human Rights-NUG claimed that they would try their best to take action. It is necessary to seek justice by taking action against the perpetrators at all levels from army officers to soldiers. 
  • In Sagaing, Magwe, Karenni and Chin, there have been heavy battles on a daily basis. As usual, the junta armed forces have been burning villages and killing people as they cannot beat the revolution forces.
