The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration announced that the NUG had conducted a meeting to confirm new areas where they could administrate.
  • Because they have the right to defend themselves, the public has been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, 87 members of the junta armed forces died and 23 others were injured on Wednesday.
  • U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights, said that the NUG had called on the Thai government to provide more help for people fleeing from Myanmar into Thailand and gave them evidence of violence against the people.
  • Reportedly, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi could not go to court on Thursday as she was ill.
  • The acting President of the NUG said that the main reason for the long-lasting civil war was the military’s refusal to adopt federalism and democracy and its continuing practice of ethnocentrism.
  • The NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed 49 staff members of Myanmar Railway under the Ministry of Transportation and Communication because they persecuted CDM participants.
  • In South Korea, U Yan Naing Tun, the NUG’s representative, delivered a speech at a protest led by Underground Revolution Supporters (UGRS).

Revolution Activities

  • The Cambodian government, the current ASEAN Chair, officially announced that the junta minister Wunna Mg Lwin would not be invited to the ministerial meeting of foreign affairs, which would be held this month.
  • In an interview with the Singapore-based Channel News Asia, the special envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Myanmar proposed negotiating with the army to allocate power and said that the country was currently under the control of the military. The Myanmar Civil Disobedience Movement Team called for her resignation.
  • In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Myanmar people protested against Min Aung Hlaing and the junta army in front of the Myanmar Embassy on Thursday. According to NLD-LA Malaysia, more than 30 people were arrested by Malaysian police after the protest.
  • In Buphyaung, South Korea, a rally led by Degu Sayardaw marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region, the local PDF destroyed a MyTel telecom tower and related equipment in the south of Latpangyun village on 31st January.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta helicopters dropped soldiers onto Maletha and Kanyin villages on Tuesday. Reportedly, the junta armed forces raided the villages, destroyed people’s property and took away valuables.
  • As a 310-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Yegyi led a march against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army raided Palutha village on 16th January and arrested U Mg Nyunt, a Magyigone villager. According to local residents, junta soldiers killed him by cutting off his head before burning his body somewhere in the forest.
  • In Shwebo Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • In Myinmu Township, local PDF raided Gone Hnyin Seik police station. Reportedly, they easily took control of it as the junta police and soldiers ran away. They then cleared the camp by blowing up mines.
  • In Kani Township, the junta army stationing in Kin village killed Ko Chan Tha aged 25 by chopping his neck, they then kicked his body into Chindwin river on Tuesday.
  • At about 5:00 am Wednesday, a convoy of 5 military trucks stopped south of Kalay Township. Then, junta soldiers marched on foot towards Natmyaung village. On the way, they were attacked with 28 mines by Kalay PDF. Reportedly, about 30 junta soldiers were injured.
  • In Sagaing Township, Zaw Win, a junta Pyusawti leader in Nyaungbinshay village, was shot dead by a local revolution force on Thursday morning.
  • In North Okkalapa Township in Yangon Region, a bomb exploded at the house of Aung Myo Kyaw, an air-force officer, in Ga Ward at about 5:30 am Thursday.
  • In Yankin Township, a bomb exploded in a traffic police booth on the corner of Moekaung street and Yadana street on Thursday morning. Reportedly, the junta armed forces were attacked with another bomb as they were there inspecting the damage.
  • In Nyaungbinsu Village of Kyaik Latt Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, U Hla Thaung, allegedly a junta informer and a former representative of the Hninsi Party, was shot dead by a combined force of local PDFs at about 7:10 pm on Tuesday.
  • In Pindaya Township, Shan State, the junta army raided the house of the younger sister of U Tun Tun Naing, an MP at the state-level Parliament, in Taung Shwe Patoe village. Reportedly, junta soldiers stole valuables.
  • In Yay of Mon State, U Mg Myint, junta-appointed administrator of Asin village, was shot on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, a bullet hit him in the head.
  • In Beelin Township, the junta armed forces wildly shot mortars towards villages at about 2:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, hundreds of cars were stuck on Yangon-Mawlamyein road.
  • In Mindat, Chin State, the junta army officer Aung Myat Tun is notorious for his affairs. Because he has been with his secret wife at the frontline his junior soldiers are dissatisfied.
  • On Thursday, Dawei youth expressed their opposition to the military dictatorship, hanging posters contained the words of Ko Aung Aung, who had burnt himself to death in Kyaukbadaung.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Moenyin Township of Kachin State, a combined force of KIA and PDF took control of the police camp in Mawhan village at about 3:30 am Thursday and set it on fire.
  • In the Phakant-Lonekhine village group, KIA and PDF forces attacked the junta army camp in Jayayan village on Thursday morning and took control of it.
  • In Sunprabun Township, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and KIA near Darokha village on Thursday morning.
  • According to local residents in Shan North, those under the age of 18 were also recruited by the MNDAA.
  • In Pulaw Township in Taninthayi Region, a combined force of KNLA, PDF and PRDF attacked the junta army invading the area. Reportedly, no less than 5 junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated.
  • According to CJDC, there were 71 battles between the junta armed forces and CNA/CDF/PDF in Chin State in January. Reportedly, 197 junta soldiers died whereas Chin Force lost 18 members.
  • In Paletwa Township, soldiers Phyo Phyu and Ye Yint Thu from the junta army Ka-La-Ya regiment (3) joined CDF-Daai on 18th January.

The Military Council

  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that compared with an unfair war, a fair war would surely win.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that weak defence would lead to being insulted.
  • The junta agriculture bank announced that the period for repayment of COVID-19 special loans and the period for agriculture loans had been extended.
  • On Wednesday morning, the second junta leader met with the family members of the junta armed forces in Phasaung, Bawlake and Fruso. He said that great staff members in cooperation with the public had managed to overcome many hardships this year.
  • According to the junta newspaper, legal action could be taken against some social media users campaigning for the Silent Strike after they were reported on by junta informers in wards.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the military council was only responsible for eight months in the 2020-21 fiscal year. After they took office, the country just gained economic development to some extent due to the political situation.
  • The junta leader and his wife will take the salute from the junta armed forces and ministries at Diamond Anniversary Hall of Union Day near Presidential House on 12th February.

Summary on 3 February

  • At a time of a great loss for junta soldiers in ground battles, what their leaders said was unhinged. They need new soldiers as a large number of their members have died in a year of the revolution. However, because they cannot persuade people to join the army by offering money like before they wanted to adopt compulsory military service in accordance with the suggestion of Thein Nyunt. The junta leader seemed worried that they themselves would be training PDF youth using the national budget.
  • The KIA have taken control of junta army camps and police stations one after another in recent days. In Sagaing, PDFs did the same in towns. The NUG also conducted a meeting to affirm administrative areas where administration could start. Hopefully, there might be a newly liberated area in the near future.
  • In Karenni State, 80% under the influence of PDFs, the second junta leader Soe Win took risks to go there and said that a fair war must win. The public said that it was an omen of victory for PDFs fighting against injustice.
