The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG launched websites for the sale of property owned by the junta leaders.
  • At 10:00 am Friday, the meeting of Central Committee on the interim public administration (9/2022) was conducted and participants discussed the matter of informing the public with
  • regard to the interim administration plans.

Revolution Activities

  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, an alliance of PDFs attacked Pakannge Police Station at 11:50 am Thursday. Reportedly, 14 members of the junta armed forces died and 3 others
  • were injured.
  • In Yaw Area, the junta army threatened that they would kill local people and set fire to villages if the YDF did not release a prisoner of war. 
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee and local people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces were attacked with mines on their way to join other troops on Tisaung-Ayadaw Road. According to local PDFs, 7 junta
  • soldiers died. 
  • As a 415-day protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shweyegyi led a march against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Myinmu Township, the junta armed forces raided PDF camps on Friday morning. Reportedly, Ko Hein Htet, second leader of Zero Guerrilla, lost his life on the way to support other PDFs.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of Shwe Kun Myay marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • According to Kalay PDF on Thursday, 7 dead bodies of junta soldiers and weapons were confiscated in the battles in their township.
  • Reportedly, Kalay PDF Brigade (6) managed to purchase some M4-Carbine weapons and bullets with contributions from the public.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a rally of young villagers protested against the military dictatorship on Friday morning, burning torches.
  • In Longlone Township, 20 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members entered Pandale Village at 9:30 pm Wednesday. Reportedly, they shot dead 2 local people for no apparent reason.
  • In Pulaw Township, there was gunfire at 2 passenger express buses. Reportedly, 3 passengers died and nearly 30 others were injured.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, local people marched for the KIA, PDF and NUG. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday morning, 2 political prisoners in Pathein of Ayeyarwaddy Region were sentenced to 2 years in prison.
  • In Laputta, the junta electricity staff cut off the power supply cables to the houses that had not paid their electricity bills. Reportedly, they also confiscated power boxes from some
  • houses.
  • In Kyaukbadaung of Mandalay Region, a PDF group threw a grenade at the junta army taking security at Inwa Bank on Thursday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died in the explosion as he
  • was about to pick up the grenade and throw it back.
  • Prof. Dr. Maw Maw Oo from the Emergency Ward of Yangon General Hospital was sentenced to 3 years in prison under Section 505 (a).

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Myawaddy, there were heavy battles against the junta army and border guard forces in Aungmye Shwebon Ward. Reportedly, local people were injured.
  • In Myawaddy of Kayin State, there was a fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KNLA near Ward (4) on Friday afternoon.
  • Shanni ethnic organizations and international Shan community strongly objected to the statement of Phaungbyin PDF calling on Shanni Army not to collect taxes in the area of
  • taxation for the NUG.
  • In Kyain Seikkyi Township of Kayin State, there was a fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KNLA on Friday morning. Reportedly, junta soldiers arrested about 20
  • villagers in near-by houses as hostages.
  • In Hakha Township of Chin State, there were battles for two consecutive days. According to the CNA, 25 junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing had a grand meeting with Mr. Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov, leader of the Republic of Tatarstan. Reportedly, it is not an independent state,
  • just a self-administered region with a population of nearly 4 million under Russia.
  • The junta Myanmar Human Rights Commission released a statement calling on stakeholders to make an effort for comprehensive peace discussions for the interests of the people.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township of Mandalay, the military junta sealed off the house of Dr. Aung Aung Tun and his Thuriya Clinic at 5:00 pm Thursday.
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce announced that importer/ exporter certificates had been revoked from 117 export companies for their failure to follow the instructions of
  • the Central Bank. 
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations had a meeting with Mr. Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov, leader of The Republic of
  • Tatarstan.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, there was a trade surplus of over 320 million USD for the 6-month mini-budget period due to limitations on non-essential
  • goods like cars and lower imports of edible oil.
  • According to the sources of Shan State Government, the military junta cancelled the plan of the NLD government for the construction of 3 modern public toilets in Taunggyi, the capital
  • of the state.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that Daw Ywet Nu Aung, a lawyer working on the case of former Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, had been arrested for supporting the
  • PDFs financially.

Summary on 29 April

  • With a large number of armed forces, the military junta conducted another invasion into Sagaing Region. However, they had a great loss there. As for local PDFs, they might carry out
  • counter-attacks to take control of the junta camps. In a nutshell, there were heavy battles in the area.
  • The same happened in Kayin State, with battles even in the towns. Consequently, the number of displaced people might be on the rise.
  • The military junta has been making an effort for a close relation with Russia. In recent days, they tried to keep foreign currency of the junta army banks at Russian banks. On the other
  • hand, they forced business people to exchange their foreign currency for Myanmar Kyats right away. Judging from those activities, the junta leaders might have plans to easily move
  • their money and property if they had to face a bad situation in the country.
