Spring Revolution Daily News for 3 September 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Acting President of the NUG stated that the Spring Revolution is not only for the downfall of the military dictatorship but also for the crackdown on the ideology and behaviour instilled by the fascist dictators throughout history. 
  • In a liberated area of Kayin State, Dawna Column under the Southern Military Region PDF (3) conducted an event on completion of their basic military training Batch (8). 
  • The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) sent a message, expressing their hope that the Spring Revolution Multi-Religious Network Conference will bring exchanges of discussion to prevent religious and racial conflicts as well as the division of the dictators for the new future society. 
  • In Australia, Myanmar doctors and the medical family provided financial support for the Spring Revolution. They also hosted a dinner. Reportedly, present on the occasion was Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of Health and Education-NUG. 
  • In Htandabin Township of Bago Region, the PDFs attacked the junta army at Sittaung River Bridge in Myosoe Village. According to the Military Headquarters under Ministry of Defence- NUG on Friday, 8 junta soldiers died. 
  • Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG stated that up to 30,000 people had registered to open accounts at the Spring Bank. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Salingyi of Sagaing Region, there was an attack on the junta army stationing in Shwemoattaw Monastery in town. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died. 
  • Between Mawlight and Phaungbyin, the PDFs attacked a fleet of junta vessels streaming up along Chindwin River on Saturday morning. 
  • Even amidst local instability, there was an anti-junta march in a village on the bank of the Chindwin River on Saturday morning. 
  • In Ye-U Township, PDFs conducted a mine attack on junta soldiers and Pyusawti members on their way to Ywar Thar Lar Village to take away rations. 
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there was gunfire at a car of a construction company on Yesagyo-Pakkoku Road. Reportedly, 5 passengers lost their lives. 
  • In Myaung Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army stationing in General Administration Department. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Taninthayi Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a battle for over an hour between the junta army and the PDF near Thagyet Village. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Northern Shan State on the border of China and Myanmar, there were battles between the junta army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). Reportedly, two local people lost lives due to the mortars shot by the junta soldiers. 
  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Bago Region, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the PDF attacked a camp of the junta army in Thitchaseik Village on Friday evening. Reportedly, they managed to take control of it. 
  • In Mone Township under Karen National Union (KNU), the forces under the KNLA Brigade (3) gained control of a junta army camp. 
  • According to the military chief of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force, the frontline camps of the junta army have run out of rations in Karenni State and Karenni Combined Forces still have been in control of the ways for rations. 

The Military Council 

  • In Chin State without local stability, Colonel Thein Htun Aung was appointed as Minister of Security and Border Affairs in the place of Colonel Han Win Aung. 
  • According to the junta propaganda media on Friday, Ministers of Security and Border Affairs were removed and replaced in Kachin State, Kayah State, Kayin State, Chin State and Mandalay Region. 
  • In Monywa of Sagaing Region, 6 members of Deiwagadi Social Group had been unlawfully arrested by the junta army. Reportedly, each of them was sentenced to 4 years in prison three months later. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing stated that they would celebrate the 8th anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement on 15 October with practical and meaningful essence. 
  • The junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation stated that 40,511 acres in Hommalin Township of Sagaing Region had been regarded as Nanyoat Conservation area. 

Summary on 3 September 

  • The KNU has gained more areas under their influence and control. They have been able to influence Eastern Bago. Additionally, they have gained control of the junta army camps. Consequently, they may soon be able to control the whole region of Bago.
