The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Dimawso Township in Karenni State, there was a battle between 400 junta soldiers and a combined force of KNDF, KDF, GZ21, DMSO PDF and Loikaw PDF in Kyungdaw Village at about 2:00 pm on Tuesday. According to the NUG Ministry of Defence, 24 members of the junta armed forces died and an armoured vehicle was damaged.
  • U Tin Tun Naing, the NUG Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment, said that land confiscated by the junta army for their self-interest, would be taken back by the NUG and the sell the land worth 2.5 billion MMK at auction.
  • The NUG issued the winning numbers for the 4th Spring Lottery, there was even more public demand for this lottery’s tickets than for previous ones.

Revolution Activities

  • According to Insein Prison sources, actor Ye Tike made a plea at court for a quick investigation of his case because he wants to be released under an amnesty.
  • At about 4:00 am Wednesday, Paing Thet Kyaw, a well-known singer, was arrested by the junta army at his house.
  • In Sagaing Region, armed extremist monks had talks with the public about the establishment of a pro-military people’s army to fight against PDFs.
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta armed forces conducted attacks with Mi 35 helicopters on Thabyay Aye Village on Monday. Reportedly, 50 houses and 15 cows in the village were set on fire. In addition, a villager was shot dead.
  • On the 388th day of protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In a village in Yinmabin Township, there was a protest against the violent activities of the junta armed forces against the public, including airstrikes, on Tuesday evening.
  • On the 357th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Dibeyin, a combined force of three PDFs conducted an artillery attack with seven weapons on a township police station at about 9:45 pm on Tuesday. Reportedly, no less than five junta soldiers on sentry duty died.
  • In a village in Dibeyin Township, there was a night strike against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Kalay Township, junta soldiers forced the people from an IDP camp west of Thanpho Village on the Kalay-Gantgaw Road to return home. They also threatened that villagers who do not come back into the village by the 4th day would be regarded as PDF rebels and killed.
  • In the south of Kani Township, local PDF forces attacked the junta armed forces stationing in Moekaung Village at about 12:00 pm Wednesday.
  • In Palaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, there was an accidental mine explosion near Duyin Binshaung Village on Tuesday afternoon. According to a local PDF, two of their members lost their lives in the incident.
  • On Tuesday, the Interim Council of Cooperative Colleges and Universities blacklisted students going to college because they claim that they are joining military junta slavery education.
  • In Insein Township in Yangon Region, a bomb was found in front of Insein Prison and, streets were blocked off to be searched.
  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, the Basic Education General Strike Committee and the public marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region, allegedly a junta informer was shot dead at about 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
  • Among the houses demolished using the excuse that they were unlawfully built in Mandalay municipality, there were strong well-built houses.
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township, a hand-made mine exploded near Mingala Mandalay Housing at about 1:40 pm on Tuesday.
  • Mandalay People Rescue (MPR ) announced on Wednesday that they had conducted a warning explosion at the mortuary of Mandalay General Hospital that is demanding hundreds of thousands of kyats to take bodies.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to the Kokang, a large number of junta armed forces invaded Monekoe District in Kokang Special Area (1) and attacked the camp of the MNDAA on Tuesday morning.
  • The KNDF called on the public to contribute to 1000-lakh MMK project as they urgently need to support the Karenni combined forces in the fight against the large number of junta armed forces invading Karenni State.
  • According to the KNDF, there were 37 airstrikes by the junta army with fighter jets and helicopters in Karenni State in the last week of February. Reportedly, the junta armed forces were heading for Dimawso.
  • In Phalan Township in Chin State, the dead body of a young man, who had been murdered by the junta army, was found on the Phalan-Hakha Road, according to the CDF.
  • In Laykaykaw Area of Karen State, there were battles between the junta armed forces and the BGF; and the KNLA and PDF in Halugyi Village on Wednesday morning.

The Military Council

  • The chair of the military council said that if farmers combined their effort with the country’s rich natural resources, they would improve their socio-economic life.
  • On Wednesday, the military junta announced that the actors; Paing Dagun, Lu Min and Pyay Ti Oo; and the actress Eaindra Kyaw Zin had been released from prison.
  • In court, the junta lawyer said that there would be a response to the third objection and that they had listened attentively to the statements by the Gambia. He also said that the interpretation of the Gambia regarding Article (VIII) was not satisfactory.
  • According to the junta anti-corruption commission, Daw Nilar Kyaw, the Yangon Regional Minister of Electricity, Industry, Transportation and Construction, was sentenced to 16 years in prison with hard labour on Monday.

Summary on 3 March

  • The military junta released some well-known artists from prison. On the other hand, there were still arrests to famous others not to take part in the revolution. There is no need to be grateful for such release from unjust arrests.
  • The public should be aware that there might be conflicts if extremist monks crackdown on the revolution using the excuse that the Rohingya and PDFs need to be dealt with.
  • In Sagaing Region, which the junta cannot control, junta armed forces have been conducting airstrikes on villages. They have also been committing war crimes by setting fire to villages and taking away people’s belongings. Reportedly, they forced the IDPs to return home and threatened that they would arrest or kill those who fail to go home. For these reasons, it is necessary to provide assistance to local people in Sagaing Region.
