The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG announced that Saw Ba Hla Thein had been appointed as their representative to Japan to promote cooperation with Japan and solve difficulties faced by Myanmar people in Japan.
  • Acting President of the NUG called on ICJ to make it clear that they accept U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN, as representative of Myanmar to the court.
  • On Tuesday, there was an announcement that Hakha Township Public’s Administration had been established.
  • In South Korea, a rally, led by Degu Sayardaw and the NUG representative U Yan Naing Tun, marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • Acting President of the NUG said that a new nation, based on public’s power and a new army which would protect every citizen, would emerge very soon.
  • The NUG announced on Tuesday that all objections of State Counselor Daw Aung San Su Kyi had been withdrawn in the lawsuit by Gambia at ICJ against genoside of Rohingya people in northern Rakhine State.

Revolution Activities

  • In the UK, a combined rally of 1000 Myanmar people and medical personnel from the Royal Health College expressed their disapproval of Min Aung Hlaing and the junta army on Tuesday.
  • In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, junta soldiers set fire to two villages the whole night. Up to Tuesday morning, over 500 houses and farm machinery had been damaged.
  • On entrance to Myinmu, a combined force of local PDFs blew up 6 mines at the junta tollbooth on Tuesday midnight.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of villages marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Shwebo Township, local people led a march against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • To defame the image of PDFs around Sagaing Township, there were cases of blackmail against business owners under the pretence of it being the work of PDF members.
  • In Kani Township, a rally of CDM teachers conducted a motorbike protest around the village on Wednesday.
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta police force was attacked with mines at Mumyit Bridge at about 5:30 pm on 30th January. Reportedly, one policeman died and another one was injured.
  • After the coup, many military doctors left the army as they could no longer accept the violence of the military junta against the public. Reportedly, 9 medical personnel from Taungoo military hospital deserted.
  • In Phakant Township of Kachin State, a rally of about 1000 people marched in support of the KIA, PDF and the NUG on Wednesday. They also expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a combined rally of basic education students and youth marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • According to local PDFs, they carried out attacks on junta soldiers in charge of security at the junta MyTel telecom towers and MyTel offices in Tontay, Dawbone and Alone townships in Yangon Region. They also blew up One Stop Mart, said to be linked to the military junta.
  • In Thanlyin Township, drunk soldiers shot dead Ko Zaw Naing aged 32 for no apparent reason at 8:10 pm Tuesday.
  • In Alone Township, the junta army sealed off 5 apartments in Hsinmin Ward on Wednesday morning.
  • In Dawbone Township, Independent Guerilla Force conducted a grenade attack on the junta army near MyTel telecom tower at 6:55 pm Tuesday. Reportedly, there might be casualties among junta soldiers.
  • On Wednesday morning, a rally of Yadana Bone University students, in cooperation with some people, marched against the military dictatorship in Mandalay, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Wednesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Mawlamyeingyun Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, there was a bomb explosion near the entrance to No. (1) high school.
  • In Tantalan of Chin State, there was a heavy battle between the junta army and a local CDF on Tuesday. Reportedly, junta soldiers conducted bomb attacks using drones.
  • In Taninthayi Township, local PDF set fire to a MyTel telecom tower in Nyaungbingone village at about 5:00 pm Tuesday.
  • In Longlone Township, there was a protest in memory of 22222 on Wednesday morning.
  • Ko Aung Aung, who had burnt himself to show his disapproval of the military dictatorship, passed away. Reportedly, the junta army did not allow anybody to take his body home and they forced his burial just in Nyaung-U. In honor of him, U Min Ko Naing sent a poem.
  • At about 9:30 am Tuesday, there was an argument among the junta police while taking security at Myathalon pagoda in Magwe Region. Reportedly, a policeman died on the spot due to a gunshot and so did a second police officer who had tried to settle the argument.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Tantalan of Chin State, there was fighting between the junta army and a combined force of CNA and local CDF on Tuesday. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died and another one was injured.
  • In Naungmon Township of Kachin State, a combined force of KIA and local PDF released a warning to some departmental personnel and Magwaysa inspection gate on the road between Puta-O and Naungmon on Wednesday.

The Military Council

  • The junta Acting President said that amidst hardships, Myanmar was developing due to efforts of the junta administration members.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary for the public to see the truth and protest against destructive acts.
  • According to the junta ministry of health, there was an outbreak of COVID-19 infection with 718 people in a factory of Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region.
  • The junta leader said that the programme for producing COVID-19 vaccines in the country would get started in February in accordance with China-Myanmar cooperation. In 2022, 10 million doses of vaccines would be produced.
  • The junta leader said that as a state-owned media, MRTV was to follow ethics and work for the interest of the public. In addition, it was to serve the country in terms of media.
  • Reportedly, MRTV DTH, which got started the previous day, would be able to have nationwide coverage.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary to avoid external disturbances in the current situation of the country and help resolve political issues in accordance with the laws.

Summary on 2 February

  • To expand the junta propaganda operation, the military junta implemented a TV channel exclusively for the news. It shows that they might do more propaganda activities. They threatened private media to write only good things about them. They also granted permit and salaries to some media people to make them their own. However, the public did not have any trust in the junta army and thus, the military junta criticized independent media and conducted arrests.
  • Despite a year of the military coup, the Spring Revolution is still in great momentum. In Sagaing Region, Chin State and Karenni State, local PDFs managed to take control of some areas. Consequently, there might be more liberated areas, including ethnic ones, in the near future.
