The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that Myanmar people were suffering from the extreme cruelty of the military junta and that Ministries of the NUG were in cooperation for the sectors such as warfare in Laykaykaw Area, humanitarian assistance and health care for the injured.
  • Ministry of Health-NUG announced that a motivational event would be held on the night of 31st December to motivate CDM health staff with strong determination, CDM supporters, courageous comrades and the public who brighten their own corner in the revolution.
  • U Moe Zaw Oo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG, said that there were opportunities to provide strategic assistance to the Myanmar people and the NUG as the US President Joe Biden had signed the “National Defense Authorization Act”.
  • The NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed (81) staff members, including non-CDM officers, from Ministry of Electricity and Energy for conducting a variety of oppression on CDM ones.
  • At the NUG meeting, the Acting President wished all Myanmar people, in cooperation with the NUG, to be able to end the military dictatorship and build a prosperous federal union with public power as soon as possible in the new year 2022.
  • Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that from the daily list of junta soldiers who lost lives, it could be seen that PDF members, with support and cooperation of EAOs, were able to fight against the 70-year-old junta army despite just 7-month’s training. However, the NUG could not bear the loss of a member of EAO or PDF whereas 20 junta soldiers died as the lives of the public were precious.
  • In accordance with the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in the People’s Defensive War. The NUG announced that up to 43 members of the junta armed forces had died and 7 others had been injured.
  • In his letter to the UN Secretary General, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative, said that it was urgently necessary for the UN to carry out a free and fair investigation regarding inhumane activities of the junta army against the public. He also called on international community, including the UN Security Council, to save the lives and property of the Myanmar people as soon as possible without hesitation.

Revolution Activities

  • Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Myanmar said that a peaceful solution should be sought for the conflict and all groups should tolerate as much as possible with a ceasefire all over Myanmar in the new year.
  • According to ACPLF, 3 bombs were blown up in South Dagon Township of Yangon Region at 6:00 am, 6:30 am and 6:35 am Tuesday.
  • In Kunchangone Township, local PDF attacked with a 40MM projectile an inspection camp of the junta army in Tawkayanlay Village on Sunday morning. Among the injured, 3 junta soldiers died at Daytaye Hospital on Tuesday morning, according to Kawhmu News Agency.
  • On Sunday, Ko Aung Bone Kyaw, a Yangon university student aged 20, was arrested and died in the investigation the following day. Reportedly, his family could not see his dead body and the junta army buried it.
  • In Amarapura Township and Pyigyi Dagun Township of Mandalay Region, there were hand-made mine explosions at population and immigration offices on Tuesday afternoon.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of women marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Chanaye Thazan Township, there was a bomb explosion at a district court on Monday morning. In the afternoon, the junta police collected personal information of over 300 people there.
  • In Kalay Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces arrived at Natchaung Village again and set fire to the public’s houses starting from 9:00 am Tuesday. According to local residents, over 20 houses had been burnt down.
  • As a 293-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • According to local residents, the military junta spread propaganda brochures via helicopters for the third time in Sagaing Region on Monday.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, local people conducted a protest against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • As a 324-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Pale Township, there was a fighting for 3 hours between the junta army and PRA on Pale-Gantgaw Road, starting from 12:20 pm Monday.
  • On Sunday, Myanmar migrants in Thailand donated to war refugees, who had to leave Myawaddy for Mesauk due to the junta army.
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, the junta army was attacked with mines by YDF at about 3:00 pm Monday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers, including a mine clearance officer, died and many others were injured.
  • In Pulaw Township of Taninthayi Region, over 20 junta soldiers destroyed some houses in Pawutkone Village at about 8:00 pm Monday.
  • According to Ma Thiri Moe, Dawei University student leader, her mother was sentenced to two years in prison, together with hard labour, at the junta court.
  • In Pulaw Township, 3 junta informers were shot dead by PDF and PRDF in two villages within two days.
  • · In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta armed forces destroyed the school in Shet Village as well as teaching aids and documents in the school.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to the record of KNU/KNLA Regiment (5), up to 47 members of the junta armed forces had taken refuge in the areas under control of KNLA from February to December.
  • KNDF has been conducting educational programme among the public not to sell products of the military junta, including MyTel mobile SIMs and Myanmar beer, in Karenni State. They also officially announced that they would take action against such sales after the educational period.
  • According to KNU, there were clashes between the junta armed forces and KNLA/KNDO in Muthel Area of Kyaukgyi Township as the military junta sent 480 junta soldiers and ration-carrying horses to Phapun through Nyaunglebin. Reportedly, about 560 local people had to run away.
  • An alliance of 3 northern forces, including AA, released a statement with strong condemnation against the incident in which the junta armed forces, led by Regiment (108), had killed 35 civilians by burning them alive near Moso Village in Fruso Township of Karenni State. They also called on the international community to take effective action against the military junta as soon as possible.

The Military Council

  • The junta ministry of foreign affairs warned embassies not to do the same thing again as the release of their one-sided statement broke the provisions contained in the UN Charter and
  • Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and it was an act of interference in the internal affairs of the host country. They also expressed their objection to the statement.
  • According to local residents, the military junta announced in some towns of Shan South starting from Monday that they would like to urge local PDFs to give up arms to them.
  • At the graduation of military nursing academy, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary to seek innovative ways to produce Myanmar traditional medicine with modern technology as the public rely on it.
  • Dr. Pwint San, the junta minister of commerce, said that changes would be made related to imports starting from 1st January.

Summary on 28th December

  • The junta leaders refused the condemnation of international community against the incident in which junta soldiers had committed a war crime by a mass murder in Fruso. After battles with local PDF around Natchaung Village in Kalay Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces set fire to that village and killed villagers.
  • The military junta, led by Min Aung Hlaing, has been committing war crimes throughout the country by killing civilians on a daily basis. It is necessary for international community to take action against such inhumane activities as soon as possible.
  • In Kayin State and Sagaing Region, there were still heavy battles. In those areas, the junta armed forces conducted attacks targeting civilians and thus, thousands of local people had to run away.
  • As the alliance of 3 northern forces released a statement with condemnation against the Fruso incident, there might be fighting in the areas under their influence.
