The Military Council

  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Myanmar did not join ASEAN Summit as the State’s leader or a Union Minister was not invited. It did not necessarily mean to show a dissatisfaction with ASEAN or a boycott against ASEAN.
  • The military junta announced that applications could be made for a COVID-19 loan for filming, music, traditional performance, press and media, negatively impacted by the pandemic, together with other required documents for submission.
  • According to the junta newspaper, a Memorandum of Understanding on economic and trade cooperation between Russia and Myanmar was signed in Yangon on Tuesday.
  • The junta Union Election Commission instructed to take legal action against those who voted more than once in the General Election held on the 8th November 2020.
  • According to local residents, there was a pro-military rally in Dala Township of Yangon Region on Wednesday afternoon.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On behalf of the NUG, Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs, sent a statement welcoming the appointment of Dr. Noeleen Heyzer as United Nations Myanmar Special Envoy.
  • In an interview with SBS Media from South Korea, Acting President of the NUG said that after the military coup in Myanmar, 1196 people had been killed up to 23rd October and 9175 people were unjustly arrested. During the period, the military junta had committed 902 war crimes.
  • In an interview with SBS Media from South Korea, Acting President of the NUG expressed thanks to the Korea government and the Korean people for their help in Myanmar’s affairs.
  • The NUG announced that Spring Revolution special bonds would be published and sold for everyone with a strong desire for the end of the military dictatorship. They also called for buying them with victory spirit.
  • Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of International Cooperations-NUG, said that as Ko Jimmy was under the control of the military junta, they were fully responsible for his health and proper accommodation as well as medical healthcare for his recovery.
  • Acting President of the NUG expressed thanks to ASEAN member states for their ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis in Myanmar, caused by the military coup.

Revolution Activities

  • U.S. President Joe Biden expressed his strong concerns about the horrifying violence of the junta army in Myanmar. He also called on the military junta to stop their violent activities at once and go back to the path of democracy.
  • Kawlin PDF announced on Wednesday that they had caught a 12-wheel truck carrying illegal timber on Shwebo-Myitgyina road on Monday and burnt it.
  • At about 11:00 am Wednesday, a military convoy from Shwebo to Kantbalu was attacked with mines twice by a revolutionary group named Kantbalu Kite.
  • In Wetlet Township, a rally of the General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Kani Township, there was a public protest against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • As a 231-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday. Holding a flower, each protester in black went to the tomb of Ko Chan Myae Kyaw who had been shot dead by the junta armed forces in the protest on 27th March.
  • A convoy of 13 military trucks heading to Sagaing from Monywa was attacked with mines - once in Myinmu Township and the other time in Sagaing Township. Reportedly, 2 military trucks were damaged and over 10 junta soldiers might die.
  • As 262-day protest, Kalay people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • According to a focal person of Kanbalu Underground Warriors (KBU-UG), they conducted a mine attack on a convoy of motorbikes by police officer Myint Swe, who had knocked down Monywa protest leader Ko Wai Moe Nai by car, and 10 other policemen.
  • In Ashay Chaungsone village of Taungtha Township, an administrator was shot by two people who had come to him for a recommendation letter on Wednesday morning.
  • As an anti-junta movement, a rally of Mandalay youth marched on Wednesday, holding a sign - “Who the hell dares to live in opposition to the public?”
  • According to local residents, a bomb exploded at a vehicle registration office on Thaitpan road in Mandalay at about 11:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, some motorbikes were burnt in the incident.
  • On Wednesday, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw carried out an individual strike against the military dictatorship somewhere on the road in Mandalay.
  • At about 7:40 am Wednesday, two bombs exploded at Debauk crossroads inspection booth in Kayan.
  • In Thingangyun Township of Yangon Region, Myo Win, allegedly an informer to the junta in Ngamoeyait Ward, was shot at about 7:30 pm Tuesday. According to local residents, he has been receiving medical treatment at hospital.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, Boni, junta-appointed hundred-household leader in Ward (18), was shot dead at about 6:50 pm Tuesday.
  • In Tandabin Township, Htay Lwin, junta-appointed administrator of Gyidaw village, was shot dead on Tuesday.
  • In Dawbone Township, 44st UG shot 3 mortars at Dawbone police station; 2 fell and exploded in the station and another one at security booth outside of the station.
  • At about 12:30 pm Wednesday, 4 sound bombs exploded at Dawbone Township electricity office. Reportedly, there was no injury. However, those who had come to pay electricity bills had to run away in fear as a large number of armed forces arrived there.
  • According to local residents, there were 2 bomb explosions at a traffic police booth on Pyi road on the border of Kamayut and Hlaing townships at about 8:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Paung Township of Mon State, there was a bomb explosion in Moattama police station on Tuesday night. According to local residents, the number of injured is unknown.
  • In Pekone Township on the Shan-Kayah border, the junta army shot mortars into Shwepyiaye village from 3:00 am to 4:00 am Wednesday. As a result, a public clinic and 5 houses were damaged.
  • In Pulaw Township of Taninthayi Region, there were battles between the junta army and a combined force of local PDFs near Migyaungthait village from 21st to 24th October. During clearance operation in the area by PDFs on Tuesday, 8 guns, some bullets and some money of junta soldiers were confiscated and 3 Pyusawti members were caught.
  • On Wednesday, Pakkoku people made a dawn strike, singing revolution songs and chanting anti-junta slogans.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • Chair of Mizu National Development Party wrote on his social media that patriotic Mizo youth, who dare to sacrifice their lives for their people, were wanted to form a people’s army under the military junta. Reportedly, most Mizu youth did not approve of it.

Summary on 27th October

  • The military junta announced that non-attendance at the ASEAN Summit was not protesting against it. It was such a shame for them in the regional community as they were not invited to join it at a national level. At the Summit, the U.S. President criticized them, calling on them to stop their activities. At the time of such a great loss of the military junta in diplomatic affairs, the NUG has been building diplomatic relations with the international community, including neighbouring countries.
  • On the other hand, the military junta conduct more oppression on the people and protesters. At their meetings, they keep talking about electric vehicles and subways, funny jokes for the people. However, they may also discuss in secret how to oppress the public and how to play tricks on the international community. Therefore, the public need to be cautious.
  • In Sagaing, Chin, Kachin, Shan North and Kayah, there were heavy battles. As for Yangon, Sagaing and Mandalay, they had great momentum in guerrilla revolution and informer-clearance operations. In Sagaing, local PDFs started to gain influence in the area and bring life to public administration. As for other states and regions, they had guerrilla protests as well as revolutionary activities in their own way.
