The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Defence announced that over 9000 junta soldiers had died and more than 3000 others had been injured during the 266 days from 1st June 2021 to 21st February 2022.
  • The NUG Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced that Myanmar’s forests had benefitted the revolutionary soldiers of the Spring Revolution and that they deserve more care and appreciation after the revolution.

Revolution Activities

  • In Myingyan Township in Mandalay Region, the junta-appointed administrator, Thein Myint and the former administrator Zaw Moe fired guns in Kataw village and made an announcement through loudspeakers on Saturday night saying that villagers were not to leave the village and if they did they would be shot dead.
  • On Sunday morning, the military junta took away three trucks of aviation fuel from Thilawa Port in Thanlyin Township of Yangon Region, under the protection of a military convoy.
  • According to local residents, the junta armed forces have been building two-storey fortified RC buildings at crossroads and traffic lights all over the city.
  • In South Dagon Township under the rule of military administration, a combined rally of people from all walks of life in Yangon conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In a confidential police fax, the Myanmar Police CDM Channel announced that San Min Tun and Kyaw Pyae Phyo, officers from the junta air force in Nay Pyi Taw, had been arrested at Laili suspension bridge at 9:15 pm Friday together with drugs worth 4900 lakh MMK.
  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, the Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public, marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday evening and strike committee members had public talks about the revolution.
  • In Hsinte village in Yesagyo Township, there was fighting between the junta army and PDF from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday. Reportedly, there were exchanges of fire and 10 junta soldiers died.
  • In Dimawso Township in Karenni State, a junta army fighter jet bombed Lobako village on Sunday morning.
  • In Laputta in Ayeyarwaddy Region, there were bomb explosions at the USDP office and at Bayint Naung guest avenue where the junta soldiers were stationed.
  • In Monywa Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces robbed then destroyed the house of a CDM teacher in Tanaungdaw northern village on Saturday. On the way back, they were attacked with mines by a combined force of 5 local PDFs. The number of casualties among junta soldiers was unknown.
  • In Ye-U, a combined force of PDFs conducted an attack on junta armed forces stationed in the traditional medicine hospital compound, with a 40MM grenade on Sunday morning.
  • In memory of student protesters who were shot dead by the junta armed forces a year ago in Monywa, youth and students marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • At about 6:00 am Sunday, a group led by Captain Saturday attacked Zaw Moe Lwin, a Pyusawti member who had shown the junta army the location of a CDM teacher’s house. Reportedly, he died on the spot.
  • On the 385th day of protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kachin State, young IDPs expressed their desire to stand with the people in Ukraine and resist the invasion of Russia.
  • In Longlone Township in Taninthayi Region, youths protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday. They also said that they stand with the Ukrainian people.
  • On Sunday, the Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta demonstration, by reciting Parittas.
  • In Mandalay, a combined rally of students’ unions hung a poem titled ‘Type of Blood’ at 35 street bridge at about 11:00 am Sunday.
  • In Kyain Seikgyi Township in Karen State, local residents from Winyaw Area marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In South Korea, Degu Sayardaw led a meeting calling for the victory of the Spring Revolution at the Myanmar-Korea Peace Center on Sunday.
  • According to AAPP, up to 1582 people had been killed by the junta army after the coup until 25th February.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to the KNU Mutraw Newsletter, Phapun townspeople have had to leave their homes and run away as the junta armed forces have been ill-treating civilians and firing mortars at houses.
  • In Karenni State, members of Karenni Generation Z (KGZ) arrested and harshly beat a group of people comprising of a senior reporter from DVB, a freelance reporter from Myanmar Now and 3 female 10th graders, accusing them of being junta informers. The KNDF condemned such arrest of civilians, women and media people as a human rights violation. They also announced that they would cooperate with the Karenni State Police, they would seek justice.
  • On Sunday, the Restoration Council of Shan State- RCSS released a statement containing 4 points detailing why The Committee for Shan State Unity (CSSU) should suspend its activities.
  • On Saturday, a combined force of KNDFs conducted an attack with snipers and mortars on the junta army camp of Ka-Ma-Ya (428) in Fruso. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers might have died and many others were injured.
  • Mobye PDF announced on Sunday evening that no less than 5 civilians had lost their lives as the junta armed forces shot at the IDPs who returned home for rations.

The Military Council

  • In the junta newspaper, there was a statement by the Religious Harmony Organization (Central) condemning the Gambia.
  • The military junta made a statement declaring that the ICJ court does not have the right to make a verdict regarding the case proposed by the Gambia and that the Gambia does not have the right to bring such a lawsuit.
  • According to the junta Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, 300 companies were removed from the registry for their failure to submit annual reports from the 1st to 3rd weeks of February.
  • In Hmawbi and Tandabin townships, 2.68 tons of illegal teak furniture worth about 805,320 MMK was confiscated under Forestry law.
  • According to India-based media, 60MM and 81 MM mortars, M79 bomb launchers, guns and machine guns were procured from Pakistan and inspectors went to look at the weapons.

Summary on 28 February

  • The military junta has been creating religious hatred by bringing religious and social organisations into the ICJ case. However, due to the revolution religious extremists could not make it to the court.
  • In Karenni State, Karenni forces have been fighting back the junta armed forces. Reportedly, civilians got injured due to indiscriminate mortar shelling by junta soldiers. The same has been happening in Karen State.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have attacked with helicopters and fighter jets causing great losses. They have also been using children as human shields. In addition, they have been committing war crimes by setting fire to whole villages and killing local people on a daily basis.
