The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Tuesday, the 51 st meeting of the NUG was conducted and it was joined by the Acting President, Union Prime Minister, Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
  • The NUG Minister of Human Rights said that the U.S had been making an effort to be able to transfer 1 billion USD in savings to the NUG as soon as possible.
  •  
  • In cooperation with the NUG, the Free Online Educational Institution Myanmar (FOEIM) will accept registrations for the 2022-23 academic year on 20 August and students would start on 12 September.
  •   
  • At 10:00 am on Tuesday, there was a meeting between responsible personnel from ministries and leaders of public administration teams in Sagaing and Magwe regions. 
  • There was a meeting between the NUG Acting President, the Union Prime Minister, the NUG Ambassador to ASEAN and international representatives.
  •  
  • The NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration organised a meeting between them and the Special Area Administration on Tuesday.
  • The NUG announced that the military junta had formed armed groups like the Pyu Saw Htee and allowed them to conduct violent activities among the public.
  • The NUG Ministry of Defence stated that they had been recording war crimes committed by the junta armed forces and that they would make an effort to bring justice to the victims.
  • According to the Benar News and The Diplomat, the Malaysian Foreign Minister said that Malaysian government had relations with the NUG.

Revolutionary Activities

  • Myanmar seamen objected to the statement by the Myanmar Seamen’s Federation that those coming back to the country would have to carry their salaries in cash.
  • On Tuesday morning, a combined rally of villages and the Longlone Township Basic Education Students’ Union made their 3 rd motorbike strike against the military dictatorship.
  • In Patheingyi Township in Mandalay Region, a local guerrilla force assassinated a captain from the junta army Ka-La-Ya (4) on Tuesday.
  • On Wednesday, the Mandalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship, holding signs saying ‘Freedom is not free’ and burning Chinese flags.
  • In Patheingyi Township, a large number of the junta armed forces arrested U Soe Sint, an EC member of the NLD, on Wednesday at noon.
  • In Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, there were heavy battles between the junta army and local PDFs on 24 and 25 April. In a clearance operation by PDF members on Tuesday, blood stains, bandages and some items belonging to junta soldiers were found.
  • At about 3:00 pm on Wednesday, a military convoy was attacked with mines on the Shwebo to Mandalay Road. After the incident, the junta army opened fire on passers-by and a nearby village.
  • In Monywa, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta inspection gate at a Home for the Aged roundabout at 10:00 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers and a police member died, and many others were injured.
  • In Minkin Township, a troop of about 150 junta soldiers was attacked with mines by six PDFs on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, 21 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • On their 413 th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday and raised a banner saying 'China: Respect Myanmar People`s Voice Stop Supporting Fascist Criminals.'
  • In Yangon’s downtown area, the junta army robbed a gold dealer of thousands of lakhs of MMK in cash on Tuesday evening.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, students marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday. 
  • In Yangon, a combined rally of students’ unions from various townships marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Tilin Township in Magwe Region, the junta army threatened to kill 20 local people, including the abbot, novices and the elderly, so a local PDF had to clear the way.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On the one-year anniversary of CDF- Mindat, who started the revolution with Tommy guns, a poem was recited with a message for junta soldiers saying that if they chose the battlefield instead of the public’s embrace, they would come face-to-face with Tommy guns.
  • In Beelin Township in Mon State under KNU Brigade (1), 7,000 local people had to flee as the junta army kept shooting mortars. Reportedly, they have been in need of assistance.
  • In Pekone Township in Shan south, the KNDF announced that two junta military officers and electricity staff had been humanely detained.
  • In Namkam Township under TNLA Brigade 1, three drug dealers were arrested by the PSLF /TNLA on Tuesday during their surprise check.
  • In Demoso Township in Karenni State, the KNDF released a video of junta soldiers taking away people’s belongings on Monday.

The Military Council
 

  • According to local people, junta soldiers pretending to be PDF members have been inspecting passers-by and cars on the road on the border between Kachin State and Sagaing Region.
  • The junta’s higher education department announced that correspondence courses for final year distance university students would be reopened.
  • The military junta announced that legal action had been taken against U Chit Khine and three Ministers for corruption to do with T-Gyit power plant.
  • On Wednesday morning, the junta Minister of Social Welfare was in Hopone in Shan South.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township in Mandalay, the junta army beat and arrested Dr. Aung Aung Tun, the owner of the Thurira Clinic, and his family members.
  • On Wednesday, the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi was sentenced to another five years in prison on charges of corruption at the junta special court in Nay Pyi Taw. 
  • According to the junta newspaper, the amended law for the Myanmar Engineers’ Council has been adopted.
  • In a press conference on Wednesday, the junta propaganda leader said that most ethnic armed organisations were in a position to accept the military junta’s invitation for peace.
  • The Multi-Religious Organisation - Central, Myanmar Old Soldiers’ Association, Myanmar National Network and Myanmar Filming Association released statements in support of the invitation by the military junta for peace.
  • In a press conference on Wednesday, the junta propaganda leader said that they had been carrying out activities for the general election to be held everywhere in the country.
  • The junta propaganda leader said that a public security system had been implemented with the involvement of the public.
  • U Khin Mg Oo, a member of the junta Union Election Commission, said that they would wait for a while before inspecting the National League for Democracy- NLD.
  • On 22 April, the Myanmar delegation led by the junta Minister of Home Affairs attended a meeting on promoting cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand to control illegal drugs in Bangkok of Thailand.
  • On 26 April, the Permanent Secretary of the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Myanmar would continue to cooperate positively withf ASEAN to expand their relations outside the region.
  • On social media, a contract by the junta healthcare human resource department went viral, stating that those who passed the 2020 matriculation exam and who would join medical university must serve as doctors for five years after graduation and if they fail to do so, they must pay compensation of 600 lakh MMK.

Summary on 28 April

  • Without influence in areas of the country, the military junta has been arranging to hold the election by force. It will be a superficial exercise and no one might recognize the result.
  • The military junta expected that most EAOs would join their peace talk. However, there will be no solution or in other words, no escape for the junta leader if major EAOs do not attend it.
  • In Kayin, Karenni, Sagaing and Thaninthayi, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and local defence forces. As for the military junta, they suffered great losses there.
