The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG announced on Friday that it was inhumane violence of the military junta as they had conducted deliberate attacks with too much force at Laykaykaw new town in Dupalaya District of Kayin State and Hnamkha Village in Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region.
  • The NUG sent a statement with best wishes for Myanmar people on the special occasion of Christmas.
  • KSCC announced on Saturday with strong condemnation against a case of unjust oppression on ethnic people in which the junta armed forces had killed over 35 local people by burning them alive in cars in their military operation near Moso Village in the west of Fruso Township in Karenni State. They also pledged that they would carry on until the public could enjoy justice.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG announced that they would make an effort, with more extensive cooperation with the international community including the UN and ASEAN, in order to take effective action against the inhumane activities of the military junta.

Revolution Activities

  • In Fruso Township of Kayah State, there was a battle near Moso Village the previous day. Reportedly, no less than 30 local residents were arrested and burnt alive by the junta armed forces.
  • According to a representative of the KNDF, the junta army killed 4 members of the junta border guard force, who had told them to release over 30 arrested people in Fruso Township. They also caught 10 pedestrians, including women and children.
  • In Myitgyina of Kachin State, a combined rally of students’ unions conducted a strike, calling on the public not to let their revolution blood cool down despite winter.
  • Despite the special occasion of Christmas, local people, including Christians, in Phakant Township marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Taungtha of Mandalay Region, local guerrilla force carried out a bomb explosion at Lewaythu beer-shop, which had been supporting the military junta, on Friday night as a Christmas present.
  • Amidst tight security measures of the junta army in Mandalay, Seinban rally marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Saturday, a rally of engineers in Mandalay protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday morning, there was a bomb explosion near Yadanar Pone Hall, owned by the military junta, on 38 Street. Reportedly, a woman was seriously injured.
  • On the 11th day of battle, the junta army shot mortars in Laykaykaw Area to the south of Myawaddy on Saturday, together with a large number of forces conducting military operations on the land.
  • In Hmawbi Township of Yangon Region, YLF (Yangon Liberation Force) made a grenade attack at the gate of the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (91) on Saturday morning.
  • At 10:00 am Saturday, Burmese Youth Network carried out an explosion at Sanchaung township court and Sanchaung PDF did the same at a market office on Shan Street respectively as their joint operation.
  • In Thingangyun Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Thaketa Township, there was an explosion in front of the municipal office on Myindawtha Road at about 5:25 am Saturday.
  • In Myaing Township, a combined rally of Basic Education General Strike Committee, Education Board and local people protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • As the junta army shot mortars constantly at Laykaykaw on Saturday, some mortars fell over the border in Thailand. At about 2:00 pm, military cars of Thai Army could be seen leaving for Mekokin Village in Mesauk Township.
  • In Kayin State, the junta army fire ammunition via helicopters in Minlatpan to the south of Myawaddy on Saturday. Consequently, local people had to cross Thaungyin River towards Thailand.
  • As a 321-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • As a 290-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, local people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • In Ayadaw Township, 3 cars of the junta armed forces were attacked with frontline mines by local guerrilla force on Monywa-Ayadaw Road at about 9:00 am Friday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, local guerrilla force announced that they had caught a soldier from the junta army stationing in Bantbwegone Village on Thursday afternoon.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, there were heavy battles again. Consequently, the number of IDPs to Kyauktu increased and they were in need of assistance.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • KNDP rejected the accusation of the military junta that 4 projectiles had been shot at the time of a plane landing. They also responded that only the junta armed forces were shooting at civilians.
  • In Moenyin District of Kachin State, a combined force of KIA took control of the base camp of the junta armed forces (383) and (384). Reportedly, no less than 76 junta soldiers died.
  • In Laykaykaw under control of KNU Regiment (6), the junta army fired ammunition using military planes at about 1:30 pm Saturday.
  • The junta Karenni Border Guard Force strongly condemned the violent activities of the junta armed forces in which junta soldiers had killed 4 BGF members who negotiated for the release of 35 arrested people and burnt those 35 people to death.

The Military Council

  • On the anniversary of the junta navy, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing attended an inauguration ceremony of military ships, including a second-hand submarine from China.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing opened Thanlyin glassware factory, owned by the junta Myanmar Economic Corporation, and said that he had given guidance for it since 2018 to reduce glassware imports.
  • The junta newspaper said that KIA and PDF had to retreat as Sarmaw-based armed forces attacked back in Moekaung Township of Kachin State on Friday.
  • The military junta announced that 6 political party groups continued to discuss over election designs regarding the PR system in Parliament and their discussion would go on until 25th and 26th December.
  • Daw Than Than Swe, the junta deputy chair of the Central Bank, said that incoming and outgoing foreign currency could be controlled due to the permit for direct payment of Yuan-Kyat in China-Myanmar border trade.

Summary on 25th December

  • The junta armed forces killed 35 residents of Karenni State by burning them alive. They have been committing such war crimes in battlefield areas on a daily basis.
  • With the don’t-care attitude, the junta armed forces were allowed to do violent activities as much as they want. As more than their 15 mortars fell in the Thai border, Thailand started to prepare for some activities of military operation.
  • The military junta do not get foreign currency as business people do trades without taxation. Regarding it, the junta deputy chair of Central Bank said that they permitted direct payment of Yuan-Kyat. We will just have to watch how business people will avoid such control of the military junta.
