The Military Council

  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on international community not to recognize U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s ambassador to the UN, and strongly condemned the manners of other countries and organizations that invited him to join international meetings. They also urged other nations not to contact, collaborate or empower illegitimate representatives.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing signed the adoption of the second amendment on the law of Yangon City Development.
  • According to the junta media, power lines are being connected for re-operation of No. (3) chemical fertilizer factory.
  • Bullet Hla Swe, supervisor of Gantgaw USDP, said that if PDFs hurt USDP members again, they would respond in defence by systematic use of weapons like Tumi guns, hand-made guns, swords, spears, pointed bamboos and hand-made mines, in cooperation with the junta armed forces.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta minister of Foreign Affairs joined the meeting of ASEAN-US foreign ministers and called on those countries to condemn the activities of NUG and CRPH.
  • Through the junta newspaper, the military junta asked for information to be able to arrest Dr. Aye Nyein Thu who has been providing medical treatment to the people in remote areas of Chin State, accusing her of giving medical care to CDFs.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a round table discussion “From the People to the People”, U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights-NUG, said that it was labour exploitation, not volunteering, in the army when serving for the houses of military officers without getting paid, working for the wives of those officers and being punished for refusing to do so.
  • The NUG announced that Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG met with responsible personnel of the U.S Foreign Ministry on Friday and discussed Myanmar’s political affairs.
  • The U.S Embassy in Myanmar announced that Derek Chollet, counsellor of the U.S Foreign Ministry, met with U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, in New York on 23rd September. He also had an online discussion with representatives of the NUG.
  • Derek Chollet, counselor of the U.S Foreign Ministry, expressed his recognition to the leadership and commitments of the NUG for Myanmar people who are faced with the terrifying violence of the military junta.
  • U Naing Htoo Aung, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Defence-NUG, said that 453 soldiers and police contacted them to join the CDM within 2 weeks after the Acting President declared a state of emergency in the country.

Revolution Activities

  • Mon State PDF announced on Friday that they would not take responsibility for the lives of those who come to the vehicle registration office in Mawlamyein for motorbike licences.
  • According to local residents of Seinban in Mandalay, the junta armed forces and Pyusawti arrested Ko Pauk Gyi on Thursday night and shot him dead.
  • On Friday morning, Mandalay variety forces marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Friday morning, a combined rally of Mandalar, Chan/Zi, Cooperatives, Maha Aungmye and engineers marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region, local residents expressed their desire against the military dictatorship.
  • As a 198-day protest, local people went around the villages in Yinmabin District and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Tantsi Township, more junta police and soldiers came to Kyigone (North) at about 8:30 am Friday and set fire to the village.
  • In Tantsi Township, two junta police cars were attacked with mines at Taungboyin bridge on their way back after setting fire to Kyigone village.
  • At about 5:00 pm Thursday, the junta army shot at a passenger vessel on the Chindwin river. According to local residents, a civilian was hit with a bullet.
  • Chaung-U PDF announced on Friday that junta administrators of wards and villages in the township were to resign by 30th September at the latest.
  • In Thaninthayi Region, a rally of Dawei youth marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday morning, a rally of Southern Dawei protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township, anti-junta youth led a night strike on Thursday.
  • In Chin State, the junta army in Mindat police station wildly opened fire on Thursday night. According to local residents, a female staff member of the general administration office was hit with a bullet and died.
  • According to Pekone PDF, there were exchanges of fire in Pekone on Shan -Kayar border on Thursday night.
  • On Friday, students expressed their desire that Myanmar protesters in Yangon stand with Thai people in the fight against the military dictatorship.
  • Despite an internet blackout in Pha-Kant, the military junta told some private banks to reopen.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Dimawso Township of Kayar State (Karenni Area), the junta armed forces shot mortars at Kyaukse lake near Konetha village at about 6:30 pm Thursday. In addition, there were more junta soldiers marching from Ngwe Taung. Consequently, there was a clash between them and a combined force of KA+KNDF+Dimawso PDF. According to KNDF, there were no casualties on the side of Karenni forces.
  • On Thursday morning, a convoy of military trucks travelling towards Tanai was attacked with mines by the KIA at a village beyond Nammati.

Summary on 24th September

  • The military junta seem to be jealous of U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s ambassador to the UN, representing the NUG in international meetings. They expressed their objection to the countries that allowed him to do so and called on the international community not to have relations with him. Relying on ASEAN, they condemned NUG and CRPH. On the other hand, the NUG had frequent discussions with the US and European countries. The diplomatic battle might become severe in the days ahead.
  • In Sagaing Region, there were powerful protests and heavy battles. As the military junta had a great loss there, they set fire to whole villages. As for Mandalay, Magwe and Dawei, they still conducted marches against the military dictatorship.
  • Due to chains of contact through young protesters in detention, many other young people are being arrested in Yangon. They have been arrested and charged with the accusation of being PDF members. Among them, even children aged 14 were included.
