Spring Revolution Daily News for 25 October 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated that as long as the international community fails to take action against the military junta, the suffering of the public will get progressively worse and many more people will be killed.

· At 3:00 pm Monday, there was a meeting (42/2023) between Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.

· There was a meeting (21/2023) between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region and Mandalay Region.

· The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), NUG, Ethnic Armed Organizations and Spring Revolution Forces released a statement about the situation in Myanmar to the European Union and the allies from Europe.

· Union Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG stated that they would make an effort to help Myanmar people in Israel in times of war.

· Acting President of the NUG stated that the more momentum the Spring Revolution gains and the more extensive it becomes, the more important it becomes in military and political cooperation between the NUG and the EAOs. He also called on the government officials to cooperate more.

Revolution Activities

· In Myeik Township of Tanintharyi Region, there had been an attack on a junta camp. Afterwards, the junta army arrested around 50 people including an infant.

· In Monywa Township, 2 civilians and 3 junta soldiers died in the gunfire at two places.

· In Tamu Township under control of the revolution force in Sagaing Region, National Liberation Army provided healthcare to local people.

· There was an attack on the junta vessels carrying timber, which had been stranded on the Chindwin River. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers.

· In Htigyaint Township, 8 junta soldiers died and 2 others were captured. After that, the junta army has been strengthening their forces. So, local PDFs called on the public to take caution in terms of security.

· According to Nyan Linn Thit Research Team on 23 October, 364 people have lost lives and 331 others have been injured due to the junta’s air strikes from January to August 2023.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, Myingyan Black Tiger provided rice to 34 households whose houses had been burnt by the junta army in Yelegyun Area.

· According to the PMCSG on Monday, 473 civilians have lost lives due to human rights violations including war crimes in Sagaing, Magwe, Chin and Yangon from May to August.

· On Monday night, Mandalay PDF released photos containing the provision of healthcare to students and children.

· In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. They had a great loss in the battles by local PDFs.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· The Deputy Commander of Kachin Independence Army posted on social media that the junta soldiers at grassroots level have to eat expired food items.

· Regarding the junta’s attack on Mung Lai Hkyet IDP Camp near Laiza, the KIA sent photos to the Special Advisory Commission to Myanmar and some diplomats including the Special Envoy of China to Myanmar.

The Military Council

· Thein Soe, the Chair of the junta Union Election Commission, told political parties on 16 October to prepare for competing and winning the election.

· The junta Minister of Foreign Affairs told Chinese Ambassador that they would like to promote negotiation for China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and join hands in projects, inter-connectivity, electricity, finance and public’s service.

· Via social media, a junta soldier has been calling for contributions as he has been seriously injured in the battle in Karenni State, and he has not gained enough healthcare.

· In Hmawbi Township of Yangon Region, local administration announced that there would be legal action against those who play fireworks on Thadingyut.

· The military junta announced that they would carry out a special matter for the lawyer team to meet with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been unlawfully detained.

· The 2023 ASEAN-China Media Forum was conducted at Guangxi New Media Center in China on Tuesday. Reportedly, a junta delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information joined it.

· On 19 October, there was a free meeting between the delegation led by the junta Minister of Construction and the responsible personnel including the Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing in Russia. They had friendly discussions on bilateral cooperation and human resources capacity building.

Summary on 25 October

· Since the coup, the military junta has been mingling with Russia. However, nothing has worked yet. At such time, they have approached again to China to cooperate in power, finance and public service.

· Except for their self-interest, the junta army leaders have the don’t-care attitude towards their soldiers. They have just sent expired rations to those on the battlefield. Additionally, they have failed to provide adequate support to those who have been injured and disabled in battles. Consequently, such soldiers have had to make a collection on social media for their needs.
