Spring Revolution Daily News for 25 June 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • On Friday, Magwe Regional Office of the PDFs under the Ministry of Defence-NUG conducted an event on completion of their training Batch (6) and equipped the force with arms. 
  • There was a 6-day workshop on identifying continuous learning programmes for the CDM students and the revolutionists who have lost the right to education in the revolution period. Regarding it, a report was released by Ministry of Education-NUG. 
  • In Washington DC, Global Fund for Burma organized a panel discussion on Myanmar’s affairs on 20 June. Reportedly, present on the occasion were the Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the NUG as well as Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister of the US. 
  • The Military Headquarters under Ministry of Defence-NUG stated that a combined force of the PDFs had attacked the junta army in Seik Phyu Township of Magwe Region, killing 20 junta soldiers and injuring no less than 30 others. 
  • Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) expressed their thanks to the US for their sanctions on Myanmar’s Foreign Trade Bank and Myanmar’s Investment and Commerce Bank under the junta Ministry of Defence. 
  • According to a focal person of Naypyi Taw PDF, they got started with their military operation on all the four sides of Naypyi Taw, the territory of the military junta. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Chanmya Thazi Township of Mandalay Region, a hundred-household leader and his son were shot in front of their house on Friday night. Reportedly, the father died. 
  • In Kani Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been raiding and burning local villages. Consequently, hundreds of local residents have had to run away from battles. 
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army set fire to Nyaungbingyi Village on Saturday morning. 
  • In Shwebo Township, local PDF attacked the junta army near Bonebwe Village. Reportedly, there were many casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In Kani Township, Local Strike Committee and the public provided anti-worm tablets to 311 children aged between 2 and 10 from 7 local villages. 
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Dagon Myothit Seikkam Township of Yangon Region, U Hla Kyi, the Chair of local YMBA and a member of the junta local administration, was shot dead at about 7:00 pm Friday. 
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), up to 3,692 civilians have lost their lives due to the junta armed forces in the Spring Revolution. 
  • In Paungty Township of Bago Region, an abbot was shot dead in Letpankone Village at about 2:00 pm Thursday. 
  • In Kawthaung Township of Taninthayi Region, the PDF attacked a junta camp in Yenganchai Village on Thursday. Reportedly, 3 Pyusawti members died. 
  • In Muse of Shan North, there was a gunfire in Honar Ward at 7:30 pm Friday. Reportedly, no less than 2 civilians lost their lives and 7 others including a woman were seriously injured. 
  • On behalf of Japan-Myanmar Friendship Association, the focal person of Rural Land treated the CDM health staff with delicious food in Dimawso Township of Karenni State on Saturday. 
  • The focal person of Rural Land provided some displaced people in Kayah State with snacks. 
  • In Pakkoku of Magwe Region, there was a grenade attack at the junta electricity office on Bogyoke Road. 
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army arrested 4 local women from Kanbauk Area, accusing them of taking part in the flower strike. 
  • In Longlone Township, there was an attack on a police car on patrol on Friday. Reportedly, Police Officer Sit Aung Thu Tun and Sergeant Ye Nyunt died on the spot. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In the east of Mese Town in Karenni State, Karenni combined forces attacked and gained control of the strategic point of the junta army on Friday. The following morning, the members of BP-13 gave up their arms. 
  • In Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State, a combined force of the KNLA and the PDF attacked Kyauklonegyi Camp of the junta army thrice in June. 
  • In Kokang Area of Shan State, a soldier from the junta army Regiment (128) defected to the MNDAA. 

The Military Council 

  • In Athote of Ayeyarwaddy Region, an alleged motorbike thief, arrested by the junta army, died under interrogation. 
  • In Laukkai of Shan North, there was a dispute between the junta army and the local militia at a crowded place on Friday. It was followed by a gunfire, killing a man and injuring some others. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed with Bangladesh for the return of refugees from Rakhine State. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Economics and Commerce, a new banking system will be adopted in the border trade of Myanmar and China starting on 1 August. 
  • The junta Union Election Commission approved of the registration of some political parties; Shan and Ethnic Democratic Party, Democratic Party, Democratic Labour Force Party and Women’s Party (Mon) on Friday. 
  • The junta Central Bank stated that they would take action against more than 50 people and 3 companies doing currency exchange businesses without license in Yangon and Mandalay. 

Summary on 24 June 

  • In Karenni State, the revolution forces took control of the town of Mese. They announced that they got started with the administration there. With the ability to approach urban areas, they might soon be able to control other towns. 
  • Recently, the military junta has faced various hardships including international sanctions and powerful revolution.
