The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • U Bo Hla Tint, the NUG Ambassador to ASEAN, said that it was necessary to think about the international view that ASEAN alone should handle the Myanmar issue despite the fact that it could not do so.
  • The NUG Ministry of Defence sent best 71st birthday wishes to Major General Guntan Ganshaung, Vice-chair (1) of the KIO CEC and Chief Military Officer of the KIA.
  • U Aung Myo Min, the NUG Minister of Human Rights, said that the Myanmar issue had been discussed in the French Lower House of Representatives and it was adopted by 54 MPs. Reportedly, most MPs said that the NUG was the only legitimate government of Myanmar people and that they only recognized the NUG.
  • On Thursday, the NUG announced the names of three companies importing aviation fuel used by the military junta for airstrikes on Myanmar people and revolutionary forces throughout the country. They also warned people to not cooperate with them or trade their products. Reportedly, the list was confirmed by the director of the NUG Office of Economic Investigation, which would continue to list other companies carrying out such activities.

Revolution Activities

  • In North Okkalapa Township in Yangon Region, the Students’ Union conducted an anti-junta protest on Thursday and hung a banner against the military dictatorship on Lamwa Bridge.
  • In South Okkalapa Township, there was a bomb explosion in a rubbish bin in Simankine Ward at about 2:00 pm Thursday.
  • At a 382nd day of protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In the south of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Thanpho village on the Kalay-Gantgaw road and set fire to people’s houses, a rice mill and motorbikes.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of people from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • In Kawlin Township, the dead bodies of four people, murdered by the junta armed forces, were found at a hill near Minkone village on Wednesday. According to the Kawlin Revolution- KR, two women were raped and killed.
  • On Wednesday, the junta army travelling from Kalay in Sagaing Region to Titain in Chin State was attacked with mines twice by a combined force of local CDFs. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Chaung-U Township, three junta informers in Yagyidaw village were attacked by an armed group led by Captain Sanay. Reportedly, they died on the spot.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, an alliance of local PDFs attacked Yebya Police Station at about 4:00 pm on Wednesday. Reportedly, the battle last for 45 minutes, killing 5 police officers, including the chief police officer. Two members of Yesagyo PDF were injured.
  • Reportedly, MPDF Gangaw caught 3 Pyusawti members who were pretending to be PDF members, and trying to damage the PDFs reputation by killing people and claiming that the PDF had ordered them to do it.
  • In Kawkarait Township in Karen State, Ma Thuzar Win Htwe, a pregnant woman in Hlaingwa village, was unjustly arrested on 12th February. According to her family, her first appearance in court will be on Friday.
  • In Bago, the junta army sealed off a house in Nandawyar Ward at about 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
  • In Kawa Township in Bago Region, a combined force of PDFs conducted an attack on Thetkala Police Station with a 40MM weapon on Wednesday night.
  • In Longlone Township in Taninthayi Region, a local PDF shot dead a police sergeant and a Pyusawti member on Wednesday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • U Sai Nyunt Lwin, the Chair of the SNLD, said that the military junta’s threat to suspend two political parties, that had refused their audit, wascreating more enemies for them.
  • On Thursday, there were battles between Karenni combined forces and the junta army. Starting from 11:00 am, there were no less than 7 airstrikes by the military junta in Pekone Township.
  • According to KNU Central, there were 67 battles where the junta army and the BGF fought against the KNLA+KNDO in the Kawthule Area, controlled by the KNU, from 1st to 20th February. Reportedly, 227 junta soldiers died and 159 others were injured.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, a combined force of KIA and PDF attacked the Karmai inspection camp. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died and five guns were confiscated.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta election commission, the NLD and the SNLD, two big political parties who refused to be audited, will be suspended for three years.
  • In an interview, U Mg Mg Ohn, the junta Minister of Information, said that they would attract investments from their allies, including Russia and China.
  • According to the Rakhine State government, the IDPs in Sindatmaw village in Pauktaw Township and local Rohingya people got vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Education, 312,153 students, including ones abroad, will take the matriculation exam, starting from 31st March.
  • According to the military junta, the FDA has made prioritised making Molnupiravir, a treatment for COVID-19, available in a timely manner.

Summary on 25 February

  • Because of foreign investment withdrawals due to the coup, the military junta has been arranging for investments from China and Russia.
  • The junta is also going to suspend two main political parties, the NLD and the SNLD.
  • In Magwe and Sagaing, local PDFs attacked and controlled police stations.
  • In Karenni State, many junta forces carried out attacks, including airstrikes, for nine consecutive days. Due to their indiscriminate mortar shelling houses were damaged.
