The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Electricity and Energy-NUG announced that they welcomed the decision of Total energy company to leave without joining hands with the military junta whereas PTT, which had purchased gas, was to transfer financial accounts in accordance with their instruction.
  • According to the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. The NUG announced that 69 members of the junta armed forces had died and 27 others had been injured on Saturday.
  • Citing the words of U Kyaw Htwe, a CEC member of NLD, BBC stated that what the junta had said was not true - ‘There was frequent coordination during the tenure of the NLD government for amendment to Section (59-F) contained in 2008 Constitution.

Revolution Activities

  • On 1st February, there would be a silent strike from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • In South Korea, there have been weekly protests against the military dictatorship in Myanmar every Sunday. In Usan, Degu monk and Myanmar people in Korea expressed their desire on Sunday.
  • Holding anti-junta signs, a combined rally of Latbadaung Taung Area General Strike and Monywa Strike Committee protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • As a 350-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday dawn.
  • In Monywa Township, a rally of Monywa-Amyint Strike Committee conducted a march against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kani Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces entered Natgyi village on Sunday, opening fire. Reportedly, they set fire to over 20 houses.
  • As a 319-day protest, a powerful rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Sunday, there was an event on completion of training batch (3) by Kani Township PDF.
  • In Pale Township, Ko San Naing Win, an advocate for Pyusawti training in Inmati village, was shot dead at 9:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Ye-U Township, a troop contingent of about 60 junta soldiers was attacked with three shotguns and mines by local PDF on Friday.
  • At 6:45 am Sunday, Triangle 3T PDF fired a mortar at the junta army Ma-Sa-Ka (905) in Ngaphe Township of Magwe Region.
  • In Pauk Township, the junta army destroyed houses in Thitnyinaung village and stole valuable property and food items on Saturday.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a combined rally of youth and basic education students’ union protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday, chanting the slogan - ‘Who dare live on the opposite side of the public?’
  • On Sunday afternoon, a military convoy, including four oil trucks, was attacked with mines on Dawei-Yangon Union Road.
  • In Yebyu Township, village administration members have been organizing gambling events under the permission of the military junta in Kanbauk village group. They failed to follow the warning of a local PDF not to do so. According to Kanbauk PDF, they carried out a mine explosion as another warning.
  • On Sunday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement.
  • According to Ko Tun Kyi, a member of Spring Revolution Myanmar Muslim Network, the whole Muslim community in Myanmar blacklisted and gave social punishment to U Htay Aung (Orchid Hotel), regarding him as a pillar of the junta leader.
  • In South Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, the junta army raided a house in Ward (13) and conducted arrests, opening fire.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In recent days, the KIA has been taking action against shops selling products of the junta army in Myitkyina.
  • According to CDF Kalay, Kabaw, Gantgaw, the military junta lost 82 soldiers and local CDF lost 3 members in battles in Titain Township of Chin State from 13th to 22nd January.
  • In Karenni State, there were many casualties among junta soldiers in the battles in Loikaw and Dimawso townships on Saturday. Reportedly, the junta army set fire to no less than five houses in near-by villages.
  • On Sunday, Dimawso PDF announced that they had provided 108,000 MMK to each of the 17 CDM staff members for a second time.

The Military Council

  • Citing the junta regional minister of border affairs and security, Yangon Khitthit media stated that the government administration was almost at a stop in six townships of Magwe Region and government staff members, except for local people, had to run away.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that British people had made Myanmar their colony with three invasive wars and replaced the Myanmar judiciary system with their traditional one.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the military junta lost two police camps in Phaungbyin Township of Sagaing Region as 100 people fired ammunition simultaneously at about 3:30 am Saturday.
  • The junta leader said that according to the time and circumstance of the situation, some laws and by-laws were being amended, abolished or changed.
  • Min Aung Hlaing said that an assistant team for court judiciary had been established to deal with lawsuits in a swift and right manner.
  • According to Yangon Regional Police Force, a police sergeant was shot in Ywama East Ward of Insein Township at about 2:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Shwebo Township, the junta army was attacked with mines while conducting invasion. Consequently, they entered Tugyi village and destroyed looming businesses of local people for no apparent reason.

Summary on 23 January

  • At the opening ceremony of a court in Mandalay, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing uttered words of racial prejudice as well as words in favor of the monarchy. It was a sign that a judiciary system of the dictatorship would be established. It implied that he would do whatever he wants with the judiciary system with his own decision.
  • The junta minister of border affairs and security said that the administration was nearly at a stop in six townships of Magwe Region. He confessed that they could not beat the Bamar ethnic rebels. There were instructions for oppression on local people to trigger a sense of fear. Therefore, local people should stay away upon the news that the junta armed forces would come to their area.
  • In Sagaing and Karenni, the junta armed forces have been committing war crimes, burning houses and robbing property. In fact, they have been pursuing Fascism. For their activities starting from grassroots soldiers to senior officers, justice must be brought to the public.
