The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that it was vital for ministries to work collectively at establishing areas of influence because it could be a turning point for the revolution.
  • At the opening ceremony of the University of Nursing- Mandalay, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of Health and Education, and Dr. Khin Mg Lwin, Dean of the Interim University Council, delivered opening speeches.
  • According to the NUG, there was a meeting between the Minister of Defence and personnel from the People’s Soldiers Production Taskforce (PSPT).

Revolution Activities

  • In Naungcho Township in Shan State, a PDF under the Northern Headquarters conducted attacks at the junta army camp and railway police quarters at about 1:00 am Wednesday. According to local residents, a junta soldier died.
  • In Pathein Prison, 5 political prisoners were kept in solitary confinement for their participation in a Six Twos demonstration against the military dictatorship.
  • In Ye-U Township in Sagaing Region, local people, protected by PDF members, marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • At a 350-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East residents marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • On Tuesday night, PDFs set fire to a Denko gas station, owned by junta crony U Chit Khine, near Butalin.
  • On a 381st day of protest, Kalay people marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Hleku Township, Yangon Region, the military junta prohibited the use of social media by the staff at the Central Institute Of Civil Service. Reportedly, the junta police force violated people’s right to privacy and inspected mobile phones.
  • On Tuesday night, the junta army arrested the model Thin Thin. According to junta lobbyists, they did so because of her post on social media, defaming a photo of Min Aung Hlaing.
  • On Tuesday, political prisoners from Insein Prison took part in Six Twos demonstration against the military dictatorship. They also released a statement calling on ethnic revolutionary forces to join hands for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • In Kayan Township, a local PDF conducted an attack with a 40MM weapon on the junta army stationed in the Education Officer’s office office. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and many others were seriously injured.
  • In Longlone Township in Taninthayi Region, basic education students’ union expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning by hanging anti-junta posters at the junta inspection camp and spreading anti-junta brochures.
  • On 15th February, Captain Zay Thu Aung from the junta air force in Nay Pyi Taw deserted.
  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, local people carried out a Six Twos night demonstration against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, banging pots and pans to drive away devils.
  • According to Kanpetlet CDF, there were four battles between their combined forces and the junta armed forces between Longshay in Magwe Region and Kanpetlet in Chin State. Reportedly, 21 junta soldiers died.
  • On Wednesday, Yesagyo Township Public Administration announced that they would raise the momentum of attacks on the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing. They also told government staff in their township to resign by 28th February at the latest.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, there were three bomb explosions near Saitaung at about 9:00 am on Tuesday.
  • In Aungmye Thazan Township of Mandalay Region, U Yan Kin, administrator of Amaratani East Ward, was shot dead on Tuesday night.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Dimawso Township, there was a heavy fighting between a Karenni combined force and a large number of the junta armed forces invading the area on Tuesday. Reportedly, no less than 10 junta soldiers died.
  • According to the Mutraw Newsletter, the junta armed forces (including the BGF), fired into villages in the area under the control of KNU Regiment (5) for no apparent reason on Sunday and Monday. Reportedly, a school building, public houses and some farmland was damaged.

The Military Council

  • Junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that progress was being made into research for prevention and treatment of COVID-19 with the use of traditional medicines. He also said that with international cooperation, it was necessary to do research on non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes and cancer.
  • The junta transportation department announced that they would carry out registration for the preservation of classic vehicles and their official registrations as historic objects.
  • U Myo Swe Win, the junta chief minister of Bago Region, said that they had been making an effort to promote eco-tourism, community-based tourism and local tourism to help the tourism sector.

Summary on 23 February

  • The junta armed forces can no longer conduct attacks without air force support or using mortars. They even have to run away when faced with local PDFs established in recent months. They are just like a gang of violent armed robbers.
  • In Karenni State, battles were fought for eight consecutive days. As the junta army did not win the ground battles, they had to call in airstrikes and just fired their weapons wildly in all directions. Consequently, local people got injured.
