The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a government meeting on Tuesday, the Acting President of the NUG said that the number of PDF members has reached the tens of thousands and they are in a position to counteract the junta army.
  • The NUG made an announcement welcoming the U.S government statement saying that the activities of the junta army led by Min Aung Hlaing against the Rohingya people were genocide and crimes against humanity.
  • The NUG Minister of Defense said that there were enough PDF members to threaten Nay Pyi Taw, the base of the military junta and that they were in a position to take control of it soon.
  • The NUG Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it was vital for the ASEAN Special Envoy to meet with the democratically elected President U Win Myint and the State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
  • Reds Support REV would carry out their 3rd fund raising activity to support the revolutionary forces and the NUG.
  • The NUG announced that 53 members of the junta armed forces had died in the People’s Defensive War on Monday.

Revolution Activities

  • In Hpakant, a rally of 400 local people marched against the military dictatorship and the visit of the ASEAN Special Envoy on Tuesday. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • On their 377th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region, local youths marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship in Nyaungbingyi Market.
  • In a village in Monywa Township, local people marched against the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and ASEAN Special Envoy on Tuesday.
  • In Kalay, six junta soldiers on patrol on Taungphila Road were attacked by a local PDF on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, one of them died and 2 others were injured.
  • In Tigyaint Township, a car driven by a doctor from the junta army was attacked with mines on Monday night. Reportedly, two people died. Again, the junta armed forces were attacked with mines as they were inspecting the scene. Reportedly, four junta soldiers were injured.
  • In Myaung Township, an alliance of PDFs attacked the administration office on Monday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • On Monday evening, the junta army arrested over 30 IDPs taking refuge at a monastery in Yinmabin.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a junta soldier, who stole a motorbike from two local people, was caught and sent to the township PDF.
  • Kalay PDF called on their alliance to fight against the junta army invading their area and for the public to contribute as much as possible for essential weapons.
  • In Pinlebu Township, three junta soldiers were caught by a local PDF near Paygone Village. Reportedly, they have been detained at a camp.
  • In Pindaya in Shan South, an EC member of the USDP, allegedly an informer to the junta, was shot dead in his photocopy shop on Monday night.
  • In Taunggyi, ritual experts threw earth from the cemetery into the compound of the junta army and protested against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Ywangan Township, there were two explosions at the administration office on Monday evening. Reportedly, there might be casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Dimawso Township in Karenni State, the junta armed forces set fire to no less than 60 houses in their invasion for over a month.
  • Justice for Myanmar called for sanctions against Minyawin International and their associates for importing the Camcopter S-100 for the military junta.
  • Ko Than Htike Aung, Myanmar editor from Mizzima Media, was sentenced to 2 years in prison under Section (505-A).
  • In Shwepyitha Township in Yangon Region, a combined rally of students’ union protested against the junta slavery education at a school.
  • In Thanlyin Township, local PDF called on houses near the junta armed forces to uninstall their CCTVs.
  • In Insein Township, youths conducted a campaign saying that only President U Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi were the official government.
  • In Dagon Seikkam Township, two people from Ward (168) were arrested by the junta army for swearing about the junta leader in the street.
  • In Bahan Township, Foodpanda riders got together in Boseinhman Ground on Monday for a negotiation related to their reduced wages. At that time, the junta army arrived there and made arrests.
  • On Monday, a military convoy was attacked with 40mm grenades by Mandalay Ranger Force (ROM) on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. Reportedly, a military truck was burnt down and no less than 5 junta soldiers might have been injured.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union, accompanied by students and local people, marched against the trip of the ASEAN Special Envoy.
  • In Mawlamyine Township of Mon State, Ko Aung Kant Nyein, a former student of Technological University, was arrested by the junta army on 18 March. Reportedly, he died during his interrogation two days later.
  • In Pakkoku Township in Magwe Region, the Public Strike Committee led a march against the ASEAN Special Envoy’s visit.
  • In Myaing Township, a rally of the Basic Education General Strike Committee and local people marched against the military dictatorship on Monday evening.
  • In Pakkoku Township, local PDFs attacked the junta army and their military trucks on Monday. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died.
  • In Yesagyo Township, the junta army raided Kyauktat Village on Sunday morning and destroyed people’s houses. Reportedly, they also arrested eight people, including two children aged three, and beat them.
  • In Nattalin Township of Bago Region, two PDF members surrendered at Zeegone Township Police Station on 12 March. After that, no less than 10 people, including monks, were arrested.
  • In Bago Township, two military trucks were attacked with mines by Indagaw PDF on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway.
  • In three Townships in Taninthayi Region, four people, including a member of CDM healthcare staff, were arrested within a week.
  • Military Officer Banyar Kyar, a lecturer from the military science and technology department who joined the CDM, said that he was hoping for a leader who would remove Min Aung Hlaing and make changes in the military.
  • A PDF member decorated his shoes with stars he had collected from the shoulders of the junta army captains in frontline battles. He auctioned them with a starting price of 500 USD. Reportedly, the highest offer so far has been 5500 USD.
  • On 30 March, the summit of south Asian countries will be held. Reportedly, CSOs and India for Myanmar sent an open letter asking organisers not to invite the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • PPST EC member said that they would review the outcomes of the trip by the ASEAN Special Envoy to Myanmar.
  • In Karen State, a combined force of the KNDO and PDFs attacked the junta army camp near Mawki Village on Monday evening and took control of it. Reportedly, eight junta soldiers, including a captain, died and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Dupalaya District, there were battles between the junta armed forces and the KNLA from 19 to 21 March. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, the junta army arrested and killed two sergeants from the Chin National Army. Reportedly, local people found their bodies on Monday.

The Military Council

  • On Monday, the junta leader came to Wizawdayone Monastery in Mayangone Township and paid homage to the head monk of Shwekyin who had passed away.
  • In the meeting with ASEAN Special Envoy, the junta foreign minister said that implementation of the ASEAN 5-point consensus must be in Myanmar’s action plan.
  • On Monday, there was a meeting between the junta minister of international cooperation and the ASEAN Special Envoy over the second stage of humanitarian assistance for Myanmar.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the delegation led by the junta minister of home affairs attended an international show on community and state security held in Russia from 16 to 18 March.
  • The junta minister of electricity and energy said that with the use of Shwe offshore gas from Kyaukphyu Township in Rakhine State, they would produce up to 198 MWs more power.
  • The chair of the junta Central Bank told companies with permits for international money transfers to work in accordance with the rules to reduce illegal money transfers.
  • In eight townships in Nay Pyi Taw, the military junta shortened curfew hours from 12:00 am to 4:00 am.
  • The junta Yangon mayor said that walking Thingyan would be included in the water festival.
  • The Ministry of Labor announced that 164 workers, who had paid money for their passports and who had not withdrawn them, could get them within three months.
  • According to the military junta, the meeting between the ASEAN Special Envoy and Daw Su Su Lwin, the wife of the former President had to be cancelled due to her bad health.
  • On Tuesday, U Ko Ko Gyi urged the ASEAN Special Envoy to call for four points including the release of all political prisoners.
