The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In accordance with the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in the People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, 63 members of the junta armed forces died and 18 others were injured.
  • The NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed 28 staff members from Department of Fine Arts under Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture for keeping their service to the military junta and conducting a variety of oppression on CDM staff.
  • Union Prime Minister Office-NUG announced that they had provided over 1500 people with emergency supplies at Mekawkin IDP Camp on the Thai-Myanmar border on Wednesday as a part of their contribution.
  • U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights-NUG, said that the military junta had been breaking the provision contained in the Additional Protocols of Geneva Convention - ‘No air strikes on civilians at all’.
  • Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG announced that responsible personnel of the banks were to avoid oppression of CDM staff of private banks with the use of the illegal judiciary mechanism of the military junta and follow Notification No. (7/2021) exactly.

Revolution Activities

  • The military junta have been arresting and killing media people. On Tuesday night, Than Lwin Thu or Ma Nwe, journalist and article writer, was arrested in Thittaw Ward of Taunggyi in Shan State.
  • In memory of Bo Aung Kyaw, a student martyr who lost his life 83 years ago, a combined rally of Mandalay students’ unions marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • · In Sintkai Township of Mandalay Region, local PDF conducted a grenade attack on Palait Police Station. After the incident, the junta police came out and opened fire. Consequently, a factory worker died and two young people, who were on their way back from a tea-shop, were injured.
  • In Madaya Township, junta soldiers in a timber lorry were attacked with mines by local PDF on Tuesday evening.
  • In Phakant Township of Kachin State, a powerful rally of local residents marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday. They also showed their support for KIA, PDF, NUG and NUCC.
  • In Yangon, a combined rally of students’ unions carried out a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Bominyaung Road on Wednesday.
  • At about 5:45 am Wednesday, a combined force of PDFs conducted a bomb attack at Dagon Myothit Seikkam Police Station. Reportedly, 3 members of the junta police died.
  • At about 7:30 am Tuesday, there was a bomb explosion near Yangon Airport. At that time, the junta army shot at a passer-by named Mg Aung Thu, injuring his thigh and then they killed him during their interrogation.
  • According to a revolutionary force, they conducted mine explosions targeting the junta armed forces in North Dagon on Tuesday night.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, the junta army in Theybawboe Village shot mortars on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Consequently, a house in Flugyi Village was damaged, and some mortars fell and exploded on the Thai side of the border.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta armed forces were attacked with mines by local PDFs. Reportedly, 23 junta soldiers died in the incident. According to Myaing PDF, they also shot a projectile at Thayetkan Police Station.
  • In Gantgaw Township, over 100 junta soldiers and 50 Pyusawti members raided Sammyo Village on Tuesday. Reportedly, they killed a villager and set fire to the public’s houses.
  • In Salingyi Township, a combined rally of Latbadaung Taung General Strike and Monywa Students’ Union expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • In Yinmabin Township, Sonechaung villagers made a dawn march against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Chaung-U Township, a convoy of military trucks carrying jade was attacked with mines by an alliance of local PDFs at about 9:30 am Tuesday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died.
  • In Tigyaint Township, HPDF - Htee Phyu conducted an arrest at a cockfight gambling event in Shweyathit Village on Tuesday and confiscated 6 cocks and some motorbikes.
  • According to local residents, a local order regarding travel in Kalay Township was issued with the sign of the township administrator.
  • In Leway Township of Nay Pyi Taw, the junta army arrested U Hla Min Mg, a CDM teacher in Madawbin Village, on Monday evening and killed him during interrogation on Tuesday morning.
  • In Monekoe- Kokang Area of Shan State, nearly 100 junta soldiers, including military officers, died in fighting on 19th December. The obituary of Captain Ye Zaw Oo was mentioned as a note in the junta Myawaddy Newspaper.
  • Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh IDP camps expressed their desire that they stand with Kayin people from Laykaykaw, who had to suffer the violence of the military junta.
  • In Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army raided a PDF camp near Kaungdinebyin Village on Tuesday evening. According to Dawei Tiger Force DTF, nearly 200 villagers had to run away.
  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, there were battles between the junta armed forces and local CDFs for 3 consecutive days.
  • In Pathein Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta armed forces have been arresting local residents of villages on the sides of Pathein-Chaungtha Road since the first week of December for use as human shields.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On Monday, Kokang MNDAA organized an event on completion of their 6-month military basis training. They also announced that they had trained new youth.
  • According to Mutraw Newsletter, there were 6 battles between the junta armed forces and KNLA in Phapun District under the control of KNU Regiment (5) on 19th December. Reportedly, 12 junta soldiers died and 4 others were injured.
  • In Kawkarait Township, about 100 junta soldiers invaded Kawnwet Village at about 5:30 am Wednesday, according to the KNU.
  • At about 11:15 am Wednesday, there was a clash between the junta army and KNLA in Kawnwet Village. Reportedly, no less than 15 junta soldiers died. At about 3:15 pm, the casualties were carried to Kaykarait in a military truck.

The Military Council

  • To solve financial issues, there was confidential instruction by the union government of the military junta to persuade the public to keep their cash in the banks.
  • With the charge against Section (505-B), Dr. Aye Zan, Mon State Chief Minister, was sentenced to 2 years in prison at the junta court.
  • According to the junta newspaper, 98 detonators, used for explosives, were confiscated from a female passenger at Tadar-Oo Air Port in Mandalay. Another 1000 detonators were confiscated from her associates, a man and a woman.
  • Soe Htut, the junta union minister, said that drugs worth nearly 1000 billion MMK had been seized in the year.
  • The junta minister of information met with contestants of a singing competition in commemoration of Union Day.
  • According to the military junta, the 5th day of Mini Gems Emporium was held at Mani Yadanar Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw in accordance with COVID-19 preventive measures.

Summary on 22nd December

  • The military junta have been arresting media people constantly on purpose. They seem to be thinking that they would be able to spread propaganda news among the public only when there were no such press people. Moreover, they inspected the locations of photos from social media and arrested those who had taken pictures of the incidents.
  • As for Kayin, Sagaing and Chin, they had battles against the junta armed forces. According to local residents, armed forces were being mobilized in those areas. It was likely that the military junta would strengthen their army there and conduct invasive attacks.
  • In Yangon and Magwe, there were constant activities of guerrilla revolution. In Dawei and Ayeyarwaddy, the junta army arrested and killed civilians during interrogation.
