The Military Council

  • The junta chief military officer of Yangon Region offered the umbrella to Abayagyaw Datpanat Shwelawin stupa in the compound of Kyaukdawgyi pagoda on Insein Mindama hill.
  • The junta newspaper said that the pagodas in Nay Pyi Taw were crowded with pilgrims on Thadingyut full-moon day.
  • The junta newspaper said that there were hordes of pilgrims at the pagodas all across the country, including Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan, on Thadingyut full-moon day.
  • According to the junta newspaper, there were so many people relaxing at Chaungtha beach in Pathein Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region.
  • The junta Directorate of Investment and Company Administration announced that 100 companies were removed from registration on 11th October and another 100 companies on 15th October for failing to submit annual returns.
  • In an exclusive interview with Reuters, U Aung Naing Oo, the junta minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, said that foreign countries were carrying out activities that led to local financial hardships.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that a high-ranking representative without a political position would be sent to the ASEAN Summit.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Tuesday, there was a meeting between U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, and Wendy Sherman, Deputy Minister of the U.S Foreign Affairs, in Washington D.C discussing how the international community could put on more pressure for Myanmar’s affairs.
  • The public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, there were attacks on 7 military targets of the enemy, 13 administration targets and 3 business targets.
  • Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of International Cooperations-NUG, wished Myanmar people good health, happiness and safety on the special occasion of Thadingyut lighting festival.

Revolution Activities

  • The counselor of U.S. Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there had been a discussion with Singapore on limiting access of the military junta to their financial wealth abroad.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, a local CDF conducted a guerrilla attack on the junta army on Tuesday. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and 4 others were injured.
  • According to local residents, not only junta soldiers but also their family members were seen in a military convoy to Hakha on Wednesday.
  • On Thursday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Tainban village of Myingyan Township, Kyaw Myo, a non-CDM and pro-military deputy headmaster, was shot dead by 7 Revolution Force on Wednesday.
  • In Ywabo village of Sintkai Township, there was a bomb explosion at the village hall where the junta army had been stationing before dawn on Wednesday. According to local residents, there might be casualties of 10 junta soldiers.
  • In North Dagon Myothit Township of Yangon Region, two family members of Mya Yi, allegedly an informer to the junta in Ward 49, were shot by a group of unknown people at about 2:00 pm Wednesday. Reportedly, a woman and a man died in the incident.
  • On Thursday morning, anti-junta people in Yangon expressed their desire, hanging a banner on Union overhead bridge in Thingangyun Township - “We may be killed, but the revolution cannot be stopped”.
  • At about 1:00 pm Thursday, there was an explosion near Malika Housing in Thangangyun Township. Reportedly, a young person was injured.
  • In Tamwe Township, military trucks on patrol were attacked twice on Setmu bridge in Myitta Ward between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm Wednesday.
  • According to a security report of the military junta, two motorbikers arrived at the house of U San Phay, a former soldier, in Ward (2) of Aphyaught in Tightgyi Township, and they shot at his wife and his son.
  • After hordes of administrators resigned in Kayan Township, the junta regional minister of Border Affairs and Security arrived there 3 days later and urged the administrators to retake their positions. According to local residents and PDFs, some administrators did so.
  • At about 11:30 pm Wednesday, a car driven by Pwintphyu police officer in chief and a military truck were attacked with mines. PRA Magwe announced that 4 junta soldiers died in the incident.
  • According to YDF, Kyaw Thiha, a CDM policeman from Longshay police station, safely arrived at a liberated area on Thursday.
  • In Thatone Township, Kyaw Oo, former administrator and junta informer in Pawdawmu village, was shot dead by a combined force of local PDFs at about 10:30 am Thursday.
  • As a 225-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta army set fire to the houses in Thitkyingyi village, including that of former village administrator in the tenure of NLD government, on Wednesday night.
  • As a 256-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • In Phaungka village of Latbadaung Taung area, local people marched against the military junta on Thursday morning, holding signs - “The dictatorship must be burnt down with the revolutionary flames of Thadingyut”.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march in support of the NUG on Thursday morning. They also expressed their desire against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myaung Township, local PDF led a lighting strike against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, saluting the heroes who sacrificed their lives in Spring Revolution.
  • In Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, NLD district office was blown up at about 2:30 am Thursday. Reportedly, the whole building collapsed.
  • In Yebyu Township, U Moe Hein aged 40, allegedly a junta informer in Kamaungchaung village, was shot dead on Wednesday.
  • On the road to Pha-Kant, currently suffering an internet blackout, transportation of rice and oil is not allowed to pass the gates of the military junta.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kyainseikgyi Township under KNU Regiment (6), Phaya Ngotto residents conducted a lighting strike against the military dictatorship on Thadingyut full-moon night.
  • In Gahe village of Indaw Township, a combined force of KIA and PDF attacked the junta army at about 10:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers.

Summary on 21st October

  • There was a meeting between Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN-NUG and Deputy Minister of the U.S Foreign Affairs. Consequently, there might be more international sanctions against the military junta. Moreover, the U.S. Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a discussion with Singapore on restricting the access of the military junta to their financial wealth. If this happens, this would be a hard blow to the leaders of the junta army and the USDP as most of their foreign currency is in Singapore.
  • Due to a large number of the junta armed forces fighting to regain control of Chin and Sagaing, there were frequent clashes with local PDFs. In Koekant and Muse, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and KIA/MNDAA on a daily basis. Along the border, China issued warnings to its people.
  • In Yangon with great momentum of revolution, there were bomb explosions all over the city. As for Mandalay, Sagaing, Ayeyarwaddy, Bago, Magwe, Mon and Kayin, they had public protests as well as guerrilla revolution and clearance activities of junta-pillars.
