Yangon Region

  • United Nations World Food Program (WFP) supported food for 334,000 people in Hlaingthaya Township where military rule has been declared.
  • There were two explosions at the new ward administration office in Maugone broadway in Tarmwe Township Monday night.
  • At about 9:45 am Tuesday, an unknown man entered the junta administration office on Bothura road in Kyimyindine Township with a knife. Due to an attack, a night security man got injured in his arm. The junta armed forces blocked the streets near the scene and searched for the attacker, but they couldn’t catch him.
  • At noon, the rally of Mingala Taung Nyunt youth, in cooperation with Sanchaung Township General Strike, made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship near Nyaungbinlay, a well-known market in Yangon. After their protest, the junta armed forces tightened security around the area and inspected passers-by.
  • Young residents of Yangon expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship in YBS buses.
  • The junta armed forces have been patrolling in townships with big military cars, which have been out of sight in Yangon for some time. They have also been conducting arrests in Hlaingthaya, South Dagon and North Dagon townships where many people ride motorbikes.

Mandalay Region

  • At 7:30 am, the junta armed forces arrived at a house near a hostel at the corner of 54 and 111 streets in Chanmya Thasi Township in Mandalay. Reportedly, there were PDF members in that building. Blocking most roads, the junta armed forces had been attacking with machine guns, RPG launchers and grenades. With the additional supply of armed cars, they made the attack. According to Myawady, the junta news station, some junta soldiers were seriously injured, 4 PDF members died and another 8 were arrested. The junta also announced that the people in a car had attacked them by shooting at the junta armed forces on 53rd road and during the chase for arrest, that car ran into the transformer at the corner of 110 and 56 streets and the four dead people were arrested. However, the PDF communication person told the media that 6 PDF members had been arrested and two junta soldiers had died. During the exchanges of fire, two civilian rice-bag carriers had been shot and one of them got injured in his back and arm. After the shootings, the junta armed forces blocked the nearby streets and reopened them at 3:00 pm, according to a resident of 45 and 105 streets.
  • Kyaukse District People Defence Force (KPDF) announced that they have been helping in the fighting between Mandalay local PDF and the junta armed forces. At 3:00 pm, they made another announcement that two of their KPDF members were arrested and another three were out of touch.
  • After the exchange of fires between Man PDF and the junta armed forces in the morning, there was hand-made bomb explosions near Pyigyi Dagone police station and No. (9) Maha Aungmye police station. There were barricades with burning tyres on some roads. Moreover, there were explosions at the traffic lights on the corner of 84 and 35 streets, near AGD Bank, at the USDP office in Amarapura Township and the traffic lights on the corner of 60 and 32 streets respectively.
  • As the junta armed forces had been attacking some PDF members, there were activities like making explosions, burning tyres and blocking roads near the junta soldiers. However, the residents had been taking photos of them. So, Mandalay Guerrilla Special Force (MSTF) requested the locals to delete their photos and urged them not to go out unless necessary.
  • Amidst the shootings of the junta armed forces in the area of Manawhari, the rally of Man Variety Forces took to the streets and protested against the military dictatorship. The rally included Seinban, Maha Aungmye general public and Corporative University students.
  • Holding the signboards with anti-junta slogans, the rally of Man Aungmye Thazan Schools expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • Amidst the shootings of the junta armed forces and their patrols with armoured vehicles, the rally of Mandala University Students took to the streets for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • The people from Amarapura Township wrote anti-junta words on roadside brick walls with painting spray in the township and showed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The rally of Manlay Pyinyat Monks’ Union take to the streets every day without fail and express their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • To show that the country is being stained with blood because of the military junta, the Mandalay-based Ta-Ka-Tha rally burned the nation’s flag and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • Not just with the two military cars carrying machine guns, the junta armed forces have been in the stand-by position with jail cars near the Mandalay moat where they have been stationing. Moreover, they have been patrolling even in the wards where there are no protests. Besides this, at about 2:30 pm, a large number of junta soldiers raided Mandalay University Campus and inspected the passers-by, cars and motorbikes near the campus.
  • At about 3:00 pm after the shootings in Mandalay, the junta armed forces took positions at Mingune Sanga Hospital and other private hospitals with the excuse to arrest the injured in the fighting if they come to those hospitals for medical treatment, according to a resident at 3:30 pm. Moreover, they have been on civilian-like patrols in the wards of Aungpinle where there were fire ammunitions.
  • In the evening, the Yangon-based U.S Embassy released a statement saying that they are watching the ongoing fighting, including the information that there might be injured and dead civilians during the firing in Mandalay. They are deeply concerned about the escalating warfare, calling for the cessation of the violence.
  • The Canada Embassy in Myanmar released a statement, expressing their concerns about the fighting in Mandalay and calling for the cessation of violence and threatening acts as well as calling for the protection of civilians.
  • Urban Guerrilla Revolution Force (UGRF) announced that they will fight against the military dictatorship, in cooperation with Mandalay, Kyaukse, Pyin Oo Lwin and Bago PDFs. They also urged the public to help as much as they can.
  • The junta city development department has been putting pressure on the shopkeepers of Man Zay Cho Daw to reopen their shops, saying that they will take back the shops if the shopkeepers fail to do so. Therefore, just a few shops on the ground floor have been reopening with some goods. Most shops on the upper floors are still closed and they just keep someone to verify that they open their shops during the inspection.
  • In Kunsaik village of Myingyan Township, U Myint Kyaw, chair of the village USDP, had been stabbed on the way to Myingyan on 15th June. After that, the junta armed forces had arrested 18 villagers. Among them, 36-year old Ko Chit Ko, son of the chair of village NLD, and 60-year old U Sein Win, brother of former village administrator, died from tortures during the investigation. Reportedly, those two men had not been living in the village when the attack happened.
  • In the morning, the junta armed forces inspected crowded places in Myingyan and they did the same at the tollbooth near the bottom of Nanmyint mountain.

Bago Region

  • Pago PDF announced that they are getting ready to offer warfare help in the city war between Mandalay PDF and the junta armed forces, and they are also holding an emergency meeting.

Ayeyarwady Region

  • At 8:30 pm, there was an explosion at the house of a former soldier On Lammadaw road in Ward (2) of Danubyu Township as a grenade had been thrown into the house. No injury was reported and after the explosion, the junta armed forces arrived there and made inspections.
  • In some villages of Wakema Township, the junta-appointed village administrator has been choosing the villagers by lots for the recruitment of soldiers. Reportedly, for those who don’t want to join the army, they must pay between 250,000 to 300,000 Ks.

Sagaing Region

  • At about 9:30 pm Monday, the military vehicles on patrol were attacked with mines between Gutogone and Hletinoo villages in Myaung Township and one junta soldier died, according to Myaung PDF.
  • Amidst gunfire and COVID-19 transmitted-cases in Kalay, young residents protested against the military dictatorship.
  • The rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East went around the villages and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Sagaing PDF requested the people not to get involved in the trade of natural resources which is supporting the military junta.
  • The junta armed forces raided into Lezin village in Monywa Township Monday night and arrested the villagers by beating. Among those who had been arrested, Ko Zayar Lin (30 years old) died. So, his family was contacted Tuesday morning to come and bring his dead body.
  • The junta armed forces opened fire near Chindwin Yadana market in Monywa in the afternoon on Tuesday. No confirmation has been made for the reason for those shootings.
  • Members of Pale Students’ Union made an event in memory of Poet Katthi, who was killed by the junta armed forces 45 days ago. They wrote down his poetic words on pieces of clothing and vinyl.
  • In Butalin Township, the rally led by the monks went around the villages and objected to the military dictatorship.
  • Kalay-based armed forces filled 2 big cars and 3 small cars with soldiers and through Bogyoke road, they went up to Chin mountains at about 3:00 pm. Enquiries are being made for their reason.

Magwe Region

  • In Yezagyo Township, Win Myint Aung, the junta-appointed administrator of Zeedaw village, was shot near Lamin-Oo restaurant in Zeedawsi village in the evening Monday and got injured in his arms. At night, the group of Pyu Saw Htee members led by him went into the village and began shooting with legwa or traditional weapons.
  • The military junta has been putting pressure on the non-CDM staff members of the electricity department in Taungdwingyi to collect the electricity bills from the public.
  • In Magwe Township, residents of Shwegonemye protested against the military dictatorship, holding the posters with best wishes for Mandalay and PDF members.
  • The rally of Pakokku General Strike took to the streets at noon and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • The public from Natmauk made an indoor paper strike against the military dictatorship with anti-junta words.

Taninthayi Region

  • In Thayetchaung Township, Oattu villagers offered lights to the village pagodas and made a protest against the military dictatorship at dawn.
  • In Longlone Township, the rally of Nyinmaw village expressed their objection to the military dictatorship. Yebyu villagers also expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • The public from Dawei took to the streets Tuesday morning and protested against the military dictatorship. The rally of Southern Dawei expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Dawei, strike-leader Ko Aung Wai Yan Kyaw, a resident of Wegyung Ward, and other 8 men had been arrested and charged with Section (505 a) and other sections related to weapons at the junta court. He and some men have been sentenced to 4 years in prison and the others to 2 years in prison. Enquiries are being made to confirm who has been sentenced to 4 years in prison.

Kachin State

  • At about 8:00 pm Monday, there was an explosion at the school between Saitaung Bayagone and Ward (2) Sittatgone in Phakant Township. At 9:00 pm, a lot of junta soldiers arrived there and made inspections.
  • KIA members attacked the junta armed forces in 4 cars heading towards Tamakan Myothit from Sezin in Phakant Township at the entrance to Kyaukbone village Monday. A car was destroyed, 8 junta soldiers died and another 3 got injured. On Tuesday morning, KIA attacked another 4 cars of the junta armed forces heading towards Tamakan from Indaw. Some junta soldiers were injured and two military cars were burnt.
  • At about 9:00 pm, the junta armed forces shot at a young man and arrested him near the police staff housing in Paukgone Ward of Bamaw.
  • At about 8:30 pm Monday, there were fire ammunitions in the compound of the township audit office in Moemauk. After the shootings, a 60-year old man, the big brother of the township audit officer, died. It is still unknown which group has done it.
  • At about 8:00 pm Monday, KIA and PDF exploded a bomb and gave warning near the junta army Ka-La-Ya (137) in Machanbaw Township of Putao District.
  • Amidst the security measures by the junta armed forces all across Phakant Saitaung, the locals made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship. Amidst the tight security by the junta armed forces, the residents of Phakant Tamakan Myothit made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship. The people from Lone Khin group expressed their objection to slavery education and the military dictatorship.
  • At about 6:00 pm Monday, there was fighting on Union Road between Namma and Nyaunggone villages in Moe Nyin Township. Enquiries are being made to know which forces were involved in the fighting.
  • At about 9:00 am, two mines, set by an unknown group, exploded under the table on which the attendant list was signed, at BEHS Moemauk. A teacher got injured and so did the school guard and his son.

Kayar State

  • According to PKPF, 71 people have died in Karenni (Kayah State) after the military coup. Among them, 55 people were shot dead for no apparent reason. 47 of them were from Dimawso, 19 from Lwaikaw, 4 from Moebyel, 1 from Phekone and 1 from Bawlake respectively.
  • In Dimawso Township, the junta armed forces have been stationing in the villages and putting pressure on the IDPs to return home. Karenni CSOs have requested the United Nations to negotiate in the emergencies in Kayah State.

Kayin State

  • According to KNU, there were fights between KNLA regiment (1) and the junta armed forces at 4 places in Hpa-Ang Township. 8 junta soldiers died and another 4 got injured.

Chin State

  • The IDP camps in Mindat Township need health care providers for the IDPs and midwives for pregnant women. Therefore, Mindat IDP Camps Management Team has called for volunteers.
  • At about 8:00 am Tuesday, a military helicopter flying from Kalay of Sagaing made a temporary stop in Htantalan and it continued to fly towards Chin mountains.

Mon State

  • In Tha Htone Township, U Soe Thein, the junta-appointed administrator of Naungbo village, was shot dead at about 4:00 pm Monday while he was sitting at the fruit shop in his house. Two buyers on a motorbike carried it out.
  • Regarding the two young men who were shot dead at the coal factory traffic lights in Mawlamyaing, MRTV, the junta media, told lies that those two young men had knocked out the security forces with their motorbike to get the guns. So, the security forces had to shoot at them just to frighten them.

Shan State

  • Taunggyi PDF refreshers’ course Batch (1) finished their training on 21st June.
  • The junta armed forces arrested Sai Lin Oo, a Grade (9) student who is not fully 15, at 5:00 am Tuesday while he had been living with his parents in No. (9) of Kyaunggyisu Ward in Taunggyi. They had not found his elder brother at home and thus, arrested him instead. They shot at him with a rubber bullet and beat him as he had been struggling to escape from them.
  • In Kyaukme, the two young men, who had been shot on the night of 20th June for breaking the curfew, have been sentenced to a month in prison. They are being detained at Thipaw jail.
  • Zaw Lwan, the Christian priest who lived at No. (5) Ward of Kutkhine, had left home on his motorbike on 18th June evening. He had been missing since then. On 21st June, he was found dead with a gunshot in his head near Nanthu village. There were also bruises all over his body.
  • At 3:40 am, KIA attacked the junta army (99) between Manlone and Daunglone in Shan North.
  • The people in Thipaw made a humanless strike, writing anti-junta words on pieces of colourful paper and scattering them on the streets in the town.
  • According to Lasho CDM Leading Committee, there are up to 1603 staff members from various departments in Lasho Township who have joined the CDM.
  • The public from Hopone expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.

Rakhine State

  • As the military junta has limited the withdrawal of cash through the Central Bank, it is difficult to buy and send food for Rakhine IDP camps. Rakhine State Administration Council has announced that they have been trying not to make the situation worse.

Nay Pyi Daw

  • The EU has included 8 members of the military junta, 3 businesses and the organization of former soldiers in the sanction list. Those 8 people are deputy major general Soe Htut and Tun Tun Naung, and other junta-appointed ministers; U Win Shein, U Khin Maung Yi, major general Tin Aung San, chief attorney Daw Thida Oo, general Aung Linn Tun and general Zaw Min Tun. The three businesses are Myanmar Gems Enterprise, Myanmar Timber Enterprise and Forest Products Joint Venture Co-operation Limited.
  • Britain has put sanctions against Myanmar Pearl Enterprise and Timber Enterprise, the main sources of income for the military junta.
  • The CRPH has announced that Vice-President Duwa Lashila will be called the Acting President as the President has been in detention.

Summary on 22nd June

  • In Yangon, there are still guerrilla protests. The junta armed forces have conducted patrols with big military cars which have not been used for some time. They have patrolled the townships where there were powerful protests. They are still arresting motorbike riders.
  • In Mandalay, the first city war took place. There were dead and injured junta soldiers. Similarly, some PDF members were arrested. Due to the use of launchers by the military, the U.S and Canada embassies requested the cessation of firing and protection for the public. During the exchange of fire, some civilians were hit with bullets and some were arrested.
  • In the towns where there are ethnic armed organizations, the fighting is ongoing between those armed organization and the junta armed forces. There are a lot of deaths in the junta.
  • In other states and regions, public protests are still in momentum. In Phakant of Kachin where there used to be powerful protests, the junta armed forces have tightened security and put pressure not to conduct protests.
  • The EU and Britain have put sanctions against some members of the State Administration Council as well as some enterprises. The military junta has been preparing for the crackdowns on the strikes and armed revolution in the country. They have also been making arrangements for city wars. Despite the objections, the military junta have reopened schools. But, some schools have to be closed again as there are more and more COVID-19 transmitted cases in those schools. The rate of COVID-19 transmission is getting higher and higher throughout the country.
