The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the right to self-defence, the public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. The NUG announced that 83 members of the junta armed forces had died and 16 others had been injured on Sunday.
  • In the meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Mr. Jan Lipavsky, U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights- NUG, said thanks to the government and the people of Czech Republic for their empowerment in democracy throughout history.
  • The introduction event of the National Public’s Judiciary Staff Organization-NPJSO would be held for two days to raise funds for supporting judiciary staff in the CDM and for the public to know about laws.
  • In the U.S.A, the 74th Chin National Day was organized by the Chin Community of USA, D.C Area (CCUSA, D.C Area) at 2:00 pm U.S. standard time on Sunday. Present on the occasion were U Tin Lin Aung, Minister of Information, Technology and Communication, and Dr. Sasa, Minister of International Cooperation, who delivered speeches.

Revolution Activities

  • On Saturday, Burmese Students’ Union released a statement that the junta army had sexually assaulted female members of their union and other female political activists during interrogation.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a convoy of the junta regional chief minister was attacked with mines by a local PDF near Hnawyoe village on Monday morning. Reportedly, there were some casualties.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a convoy of 6 military trucks with 80 junta soldiers was attacked with mines. According to a local PDF, there might have been many casualties.
  • On Monday, a powerful rally of Monywa General Strike marched on Martyrs’ road and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Kani Township, the junta armed forces set fire to I-Taung Anauk village on Sunday. Reportedly, 14 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In Myinmu Township, the junta army raided a medical camp of local PDF near Santinkin village at about 7:00 am Sunday. Reportedly, 2 PDF members lost their lives and 10 others were arrested.
  • As a 379-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Kani Township, the junta armed forces set fire to villages and arrested local residents. Consequently, about 10,000 people had to run away.
  • In Salingyi Township, Monywa Red Fire PDF conducted an attack on a copper mine run by Wanbao Mining Company from China on Sunday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, there was an event on completion of basic military training Batch (2) by Hero Tiger Force.
  • On Monday, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Tontay Township of Yangon Region, the junta army placed photos of 3 men on lamp posts, saying that there would be financial reward upon finding them.
  • At about 1:00 pm Monday, a combined rally of students’ unions marched on Anawrata road, holding anti-junta banners.
  • In Thaketa Township, Wolf Warriors STF (WWSTF) threw a grenade at a military car on patrol on Myindawtha road at 12:00 pm Saturday.
  • At about 3:20 pm Sunday, a guerrilla force threw grenades at KBZ Bank on Bayintnaung road.
  • At about 1:30 pm Monday, there was a bomb explosion at the traffic police booth in front of City Mart on Thamai Junction. According to local residents, two junta soldiers died.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, some members of a special guerrilla force protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday night, spraying red paint and burning tyres for their comrades who had lost their lives in Mobye and Khin-U.
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, a school bus of the junta army was attacked with mines twice by local PDF at about 8:30 am Monday.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township of Mandalay Region, U Aung Sein, junta-appointed hundred-household leader, was shot dead by Dragon Warrior group at about 10:30 am Monday.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of Pyigyi Dagun conducted a 222222 protest against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • On Monday morning, there was a paint-spray campaign at a traffic police booth on the corner of 66 street and 41 street.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • With a statement on Monday, Kyar Phyu or White Tiger Party called on the junta army to help stop military conflicts in Shan State.
  • In an interview with Shan Media, the Chair of RCSS said that he did not think the NUG would be able to control PDFs and that PDFs could become armed robbers at some time in the future.
  • On Monday, Loikaw PDF announced that the junta army had set fire to the people’s houses in Warisu Palai village and Witeku village in Mobye battle on Shan-Karenni border.

The Military Council

  • According to local residents, the junta armed forces in plain clothes cleared mines placed by local PDFs on the roadside of Monywa-Mandalay in Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region.
  • The junta revenue department announced that tax exemptions would be available only up to 31st March for taxpayers with untaxable income.
  • The military junta rejected the call of ASEAN for a meeting among their special envoy, CRPH and the NUG, which would help resolve the political crisis of Myanmar after the coup.
  • The junta ministry of foreign affairs announced that CRPH, the NUG and other organizations under them had already been regarded as terrorists’ organizations. They also stated that suggesting a meeting with such organizations for the special envoy was against principles contained in the ASEAN Charter and against the efforts of ASEAN for an anti-terrorist policy.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that all ethnic people in the union were to go through thick and thin, and protect the nation with true patriotism.
  • According to the junta ministry of health, the number of COVID-19 cases has been over 3000 on a daily basis since 18th February.
  • On Sunday, members of the military junta attended a ceremony of the 74th Chin National Day in Hakha of Chin State.
  • The junta ministry of foreign affairs expressed their sorrow for the exclusion of Myanmar by some ASEAN members in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) with the excuse of the political situation in the country.

Summary on 21 February

  • In addition to the international community, even ASEAN members expressed their disapproval of the military junta. No matter how hard they tried, it all ended up in vain.
  • In Sagaing Region, revolution forces have been in great momentum. With the violent activities of the junta armed forces on the public, more and more young people have been turning to the PDFs. As for the military junta, they still set fire to villages and kill people if they have a great loss.
  • As for Yangon and Mandalay, they had protests against the military dictatorship again. In terms of the revolution, it gained momentum in Yangon.
