The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Human Rights- NUG announced that they had been implementing the process of international justice by constantly sending the information about ill-treatment and human rights violations of the military junta in prisons to related UN organizations and fact-finding mechanisms in order to end the tendency of freedom from punishment for those violating human rights.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG, 7 soldiers and 2 police members made contact on Monday to join the public as they could no longer accept the military dictatorship.
  • The NUG announced that their ministries, joining hands with implementation teams and ethnic members of cooperation team for humanitarian affairs and disaster response, had been sending food, blankets, warm clothes and other necessary items directly to the IDPs in Laykaykaw Area where there had been ongoing battles due to the junta army.
  • The NUG announced that about 50 junta soldiers, including 2 officers, had died in Metaw Thalay Fighting in Kayin State.
  • Ministry of Human Rights- NUG called on the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to protect those in detention unjustly in Myanmar prisons and try their best to help resolve human rights violations there.
  • Ministry of Judiciary Affairs- NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed 32 judiciary staff members under the military junta for their immoral activities.

Revolution Activities

  • On Monday, Bago University students led an anti-junta movement themed- ‘Kayin’s fighting is ours. Kayin’s victory is ours’.
  • As a 316-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship amidst tight security measures on Monday.
  • On Monday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship.
  • At about 9:55 pm Sunday, a convoy of 4 military trucks was attacked with mines by local guerrilla force near Ywathagyi on Shwebo-Mandalay road section. Reportedly, it was still unknown about casualties.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Monday morning.
  • From 12th to 18th December, a combined force of local PDFs conducted a variety of attacks at the military vessels carrying jade in Chindwin River in Kani Township. Reportedly, no less than 90 members of the junta armed forces died and a ship of jade sank.
  • In Mandalay, Aungmye Thazan Township Schools’ Union shared Daungtaman or Peacock Messenger newsletters in commemoration of Bo Aung Kyaw Day, which fell on Monday.
  • On Monday, Yadanabone University Students’ Union expressed their disapproval of the Cambodian Prime Minister who had been cooperating with the military junta and providing help in diplomatic affairs, burning his photo.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, the junta armed forces arrested a couple, Ko The Htwe Mg and Ma Nan, on 13th December and killed them in the investigation. On 15th December, they burnt their dead bodies without informing their family and relatives.
  • In Thonekwa Township of Yangon Region, two military trucks carrying rations were attacked with mines by local PDF at about 8:30 am Monday. According to local source, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • On Sunday, Yangon Anti-junta Movement Committee called for unity with comrades who had been protesting in prisons.
  • Despite reopening shops, Myanmar Plaza is still deserted due to the public’s boycott. The junta police members are still there as well.
  • For one of two natural-disaster charges against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi, Dr. Zaw Myint Mg has to be a prosecutor.
  • Despite verdict for two charges against State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi on Monday, it was postponed until 27th December.
  • In Myaungmya of Ayeyarwaddy Region, 7 residents were arrested with the accusation of having contact with the MP who had been caught in Laykaykaw.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Monekoe Township of Shan North, the junta armed forces conducted land and air attacks at MNDAA. However, they lost more than 70 soldiers and retreated, according to the Kokang.
  • KNLA Regiment (6) made an announcement calling for not posting the news online in a hurry if there were any battles against the junta army in Dupalaya District under control of KNU and KNLA attacking and taking control of the junta camps.
  • In the area under the control of Chin National Army (CNA), there was an event on the completion of the 45th batch of their basic military training.
  • According to KNU sources, KNU Central ordered their regiments to shoot at the junta army invading the areas under their control.
  • In Loikaw Township of Kayah (Karenni) State, the junta army set fire to Kunnakaloku Village at about 7:00 am Monday. According to KNDF, the whole village was burnt to ashes.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that they had no plan to reduce the amount of minimum wage despite the news that 4800 MMK for workers per day had been changed to 3600 MMK.
  • According to the junta media, the junta chief minister of Shan State, his wife and other responsible personnel paid respect to Thidagu Sayardaw at Kangyi Monastery in Nyaungshwe Township.
  • According to the junta newspaper, 220 sets of pearl had been sold on the second day of Mini Gems Emporium. On the third day, Set No. (221) to (330) were sold with an open tender for local and international gems traders.
  • According to the newspaper, Deputy Major General Tun Tun Naung, chair of the junta coordination committee on security and development of Rakhine State, and other members visited the camps and supported the IDPs.

Summary on 21st December

  • KNU Central ordered their regiments to shoot at the junta armed forces invading their areas. As for the military junta, they continued to strengthen their armed forces. Consequently, there might be ongoing battles in Kayin and Taninthayi.
  • The military junta have been conducting human rights violations daily. Such cases have been recorded by the NUG for international action. It will make the dictators face more hardships in the international community.
  • In Yangon and Mandalay, revolution activities increased again. It highlights all-inclusive public disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • As for Sagaing, Chin, Kayin, Kayah and Shan North, they had heavy battles, causing a great loss for the junta armed forces. There were also casualties among revolutionists.
