The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Health announced that bookings could be made at https://nwayooclinic.com, the website of Nway Oo Clinic where people could get access to medical treatment and contribute to the revolution fund at the same time. Reportedly, their service will start on 21 March.
  • Dr. Win Myat Aye, the NUG Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Risks Management, called on Myanmar people in other countries to donate to assist war refugees.
  • On the 34th anniversary of the Chin National Front (CNF), the NUG sent a statement expressing their honor for the force because they, in cooperation with the public, have been fighting against the military dictatorship.
  • On the 34th anniversary of CNF, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) stated that all people, including Chin ethnic ones, were to join hands to end the military dictatorship, the common goal of the Spring Revolution. They also called for efforts to build a federal democracy, which could ensure freedom, equality and self-determination of the public.

Revolution Activities

  • In South Korea, Degu Sayardaw led protests against the military dictatorship on Sunday. He also called for more contributions to the revolution fund.
  • In Magwe Region, a military truck was attacked with mines by local PDFs near Pakkoku Airport at 12:40 pm Sunday. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • In Taungoo in Bago Region, a combined rally of students’ unions hung banners for labour movements and against the oppression.
  • In Thatone Township in Mon State, the junta army fired mortars at the pagoda festival in Kyauktaung Village on Saturday night. According to a local PDF, three people including a child aged seven died and some cars were damaged.
  • In Monywa in Sagaing Region, the Monywa Youths Revolutionary Force marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • On their 375th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kyarin Seikgyi Township in Karen State, the junta armed forces have been moving in a secretive manner.
  • In the south of Kalay Township, the junta armed forces raided three villages; Natchaung, Natmyaung and Aungchantha; on 17 March and set fire to 70 houses. Reportedly, they also killed a civilian for no apparent reason.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township in Yangon Region, the Black Eagle Rangers (BER) conducted a bomb attack on members of the junta administration gathering for a patrol in Ward (6) at 10:30 pm Saturday.
  • According to the Spring Brothers Force, there were attacks with 40mm grenades at Shwepyitha Township police station and township hall at 7:00 pm on Saturday.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, the NLD Chair of Pyinkayai Village in Ngaputaw Township and a man from Pathein Township were sentenced to two years in prison on Thursday morning.
  • In Hopin in Kachin State, there was fighting between the junta army and a combined force of the KIA east of Nantyin Stream. According to a local PDF, they lost five members.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kachin State, a combined force of the KIA and a PDF attacked the junta 21 Mile camp on the Myitgyina-Nammati Road and took control of it. Reportedly, they burnt it down.
  • In Karen State’s Kawkarait Township the KNU announced that junta staff members were to return home and local ones were to resign.
  • On the 34th Chin Revolution Day, CNF announced that the country is in the worst situation it has been since the coup a year ago and is on the verge of being a failed state.
  • In Dimawso Township in Karenni State, the junta armed forces in Dawngankha Ward took away people’s possessions from 13 to 20 March. Reportedly, they also set fire to no less than 40 houses.
  • According to KNU Central, the junta army conducted airstrikes in Nyaunglaybin District under the control of KNU Brigade (3) at about 2:00 am Saturday.

The Military Council

  • According to a Mandalay municipal newspaper, the junta regional government will organize the water festival in April.
  • According to the department of weather forecasting, a storm will hit Koko Island, Higyi Island and the Rakhine Coast in Myanmar due to a strong depression.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Education, registration cards for the 2022 matriculation exam could be withdrawn at schools and exam centers starting from 24 March.
  • The junta chief minister of Karen State said that hotel and tourism, so-called clean industry, and the agriculture sector would be promoted.
  • According to the junta news, there was a discussion between the ambassador of Saudi Arabia, the junta Foreign Minister and the junta Minister of International Cooperation to promote trade, investment and the energy sector between the two countries.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta Minister of International Cooperation made a presentation about the progress made on Myanmar accepting the return of refugees from Bangladesh to Rakhine State
  • The military junta announced that those who would like to give out garlands at the military show in Nay Pyi Taw on 27 March (Army Day) have to register via phone and must come in person together with their identification cards and photos to obtain security clearance.

Summary on 21 March

  • Using the pretext of Rohingya affairs, the military junta talked to the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to ask for economic assistance. It highlights that they have very few economic partners. They also made an effort to resume tourism in some states and regions. It is stupid of them to do the same in Karen State where there is a war happening.
  • Those who want to give out garlands on Army Day are just from military families. However, the military junta has set tight security measures. Because they are scared that there might be a security breach of their community.
  • In Karen and Karenni states and Sagaing Region, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and revolutionary forces. As for the military junta, they are still committing war crimes by conducting air strikes and destroying people’s property.
  • In most townships in Yangon Region, the revolution has great momentum. As for Mandalay and Sagaing, they still have protests against the military dictatorship. In Karen and upper Mon, there were guerrilla activities.
  • In Dawei in Tanintharyi Region, there have been protests on a daily basis. However, there have been very few since the beginning of February due to clampdowns by the armed forces. Instead of protesting local people have been taking up arms against the military junta.
