The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Defence- NUG made an announcement asking soldiers whether they would choose to lose their lives under the military junta who do not care for anyone except for their self-interest or give up arms to those who treat even enemies with human dignity.
  • According to Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG, 56 members of the junta armed forces died and 19 others were injured due to battles all over the country on Saturday alone.
  • The NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed 54 staff members from the Department of Archaeology and National Museum under the Ministry of Religious and Cultural Affairs for conducting a variety of oppression on the CDM staff.

Revolution Activities

  • In the area under the control of KNU Regiment (6) in Kayin State, the junta army did not pick up dead bodies of their soldiers who had lost in Metaw Thale Fighting and thus, rotting corpses were piling up on streets.
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, the junta armed forces fired ammunition into Hnamka Village via military helicopters and stationed in the village. They then committed murders constantly. According to local residents, the dead bodies of 14 people had been collected and there were many corpses left.
  • Gantgaw Township Public Administration Team announced that local people were to make sure of security first before contacting each other.
  • In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, a troop of over 100 junta soldiers was attacked with 6 varieties of mines by a combined force of local PDFs near Nagamataung Village at about 10:35 am Saturday. Reportedly, 5 members of the junta army died.
  • On Sunday, there was an anti-junta movement in Ayadaw Village, with a banner for Keba Village, which had been burnt down by the junta armed forces.
  • On Sunday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Monywa-Amyint Road, the junta army was attacked with a variety of mines by Monywa Phoenix Warrior near Tanaung Taung Cemetery on Sunday.
  • As the junta vessels carrying jade went down Chindwin River, they arrived in Yinmabin Township on Saturday. Reportedly, they were attacked by an alliance of local PDFs.
  • In Shwebo, local people marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • On Sunday morning, Kalay people marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Taungdwin Area of Minkin Township, a troop of around 200 junta soldiers set fire to 19 houses from 10 villages and burnt two people together with their houses.
  • In Chaung-U Township, U Ni, Pyusawti member in Kinmundaw Village, was shot dead at about 10:00 am Saturday, according to Monywa Nightking.
  • In Kyaukse Township of Mandalay Region, MyTel telecom tower in Ywapale Village was blown up by local PDF. Again, a military car was attacked by mines on their way to inspect the explosion. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers, including an officer, died and 4 others were seriously injured.
  • In Laykaykaw Area, a mortar shot by the junta army on Sunday afternoon fell and exploded near the school in Metaw Talay Village. Reportedly, a building was burnt down.
  • On Sunday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Yangon, Youths Union led a protest against the military dictatorship near Boseinman Football Ground on Sunday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Dawei of Taninthayi Region, a large number of the junta armed forces arrested three young people in Nyaungyan Taung Ward on Friday night.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, junta soldiers and Pyusawti members threatened a family in Yange Village that they would set fire to their house on Inbu street.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to military sources of MNDAA, the junta armed forces seemed to be preparing for war in Special Area (1) of Kokang EAO.
  • In Metaw Thalay Village of Laykaykaw, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KNU-KNLA.
  • According to KNLA sources, KNLA managed to regain control of Laykaykaw Myothit in which there had been battles due to the invasion of the junta army and local people had run away. However, there was heavy fighting in the area on Sunday.

The Military Council

  • In Hleku Township, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing attended an umbrella-hoisting ceremony of an ancient pagoda known as Kyaikdewi. He also wrote his wish for peace in the country in the visitors’ record book.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta minister of information donated basic food items to artists’ organizations.
  • Dr. Pwint San, the junta minister of economics and commerce, said that they would oversee the activities for no high price of cooking oil and for its import via official routes.
  • According to the junta media, the junta chief minister of Kachin State, the junta officer-in-chief of Northern Regional Military Headquarters and other members attended the opening ceremony of 12th abbot training.
  • Reportedly, a hybrid event of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Meeting was held in Beihei of Zhuang Autonomous Region of Guangxi, China at 8:00 am Myanmar Standard Time on Friday.
  • According to the military junta, MINI GEMS EMPORIUM was held for the second day at Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw in accordance with COVID-19 preventive measures and 220 sets of pearl were sold on Sunday.
  • At about 11:00 am Saturday, 22 members of the military junta, including some ministers, arrived at Kimo Hall in Paletwa Township of Chin State and left for Sittway by helicopter at 2:00 pm.

Summary on 20th December

  • According to the Kokang media, there might be war in Shan North as the junta armed forces were mobilized in the area. In Kayin State, there were constant battles. The same was true for Sagaing and Chin.
  • While carrying out warfare activities, the military junta tried to earn money by selling jade and pearl. They seemed to weaken revolutionary forces, wasting the military budget. No matter what, anti-junta forces, with strong determination and public’s support, must fight back against them.
