The National Unity Government (NUG)

· At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting (36/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.

Revolution Activities

· In the western part of Ye-U Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages. Consequently, over 10,000 people have had to run away.

· On Thursday morning, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin conducted an anti-junta march and a campaign for the boycott of the junta army products.

· The military junta took action against 26 political prisoners who had been on a hunger strike in Monywa Prison in September.

· In Monywa Township, there was an attack on the junta army demanding money from travelers on the Monywa-Mandalay Road. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.

· In the lower part of Chindwin River, local revolution forces attacked the junta vessels carrying rations to Pyusawti villages.

· In Yinmabin Township, a junta troop had killed 6 civilians from Thegone Village. Reportedly, they murdered another person on Wednesday.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, local PDF conducted mine attacks on a junta troop of 10 soldiers at two different locations.

· In Dawei District of Tanintharyi Region, Dawna Tanintharyi Force conducted an educational talk on worms for children aged 2 and above. They also shared exercise books to the students at two local schools.

· Civil Society Organizations called on the members of the United Nations General Assembly to take action against the Myanmar junta army using any possible means without delay.

· In Kyaukdagar Township of Bago Region, local PDF shot at the junta administrator of Myochaung Village Tract (8 Mile) and his wife on the road.

· According to Justice for Myanmar on Wednesday, the Prosecutor Office in Germany began their interrogation on ND SatCom GmbH which had sold communication device to Myanmar’s military junta.

· The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees stated that it should not be possible to ignore the crisis of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar due to the attention on international conflicts and chaos.

· The revolution forces called for the boycott of 8 goods and services of the military junta including the Aungbale Lottery as the second phase of the financial battle.

· In Maha Aungmye Township of Mandalay Region, a hundred-household leader was shot dead at close range while he was sitting in a tea-shop.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Bamaw of Kachin State, the junta army arrested a former officer of Kachin Independence Army and his family. They then bombed their house.

· In Shweku Township, a combined force of the KIA and the PDF attacked and took control of a junta army camp on Wednesday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and a large number of weapons were confiscated.

· In Muse Township of Northern Shan State, the KIA managed to gain control of a junta army camp on Thursday afternoon.

· In Ledo Township of Nyaunglebin District under the Karen National Union Brigade (3), the junta army conducted an air strike, injuring 3 members of the Karen National Liberation Army and a civilian.

· In Shweku Township, the KIA and the KPDF gained control of the junta’s Ngabatgyi Camp, a major one for the military junta to strengthen their local forces.

The Military Council

· China issued a warrant for the two officers who got dismissed from United Wa State Party. Again, the military junta did the same to them.

· In Moemauk Township of Kachin State, the junta army sent weapons and rations via parachutes to their forces in Aunggya Area.

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing called for effective use of the national budget.

· According to the news on Myanmar Now, the army officers have been arranging to teach Russian language at the training for civil servants.

· In Bago Region with more movements by the KNU and the PDFs, the military junta has been arranging to strengthen their militias or so-called Pyusawti.

· In the capital of Karenni State, the military junta warned those living in the low-land wards to prepare for emergency evacuation due to the release of water from Mobye Dam.

· Instead of the junta leader, the junta Deputy Prime Minister and the junta Minister of Transportation General Mya Tun Oo attended the 3rd Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing of China.

· The delegation led by the Chair of Foreign Relations Committee of Saint Petersburg Government from Russia visited the Civil Service Academy (Upper Myanmar) and Defence Service Academy.

· Than Than Swe, the Chair of the junta Central Bank, inspected financial management activities of Yangon Branch.

· The second junta leader Soe Win stated that they managed to carry out response activities to the Cyclone Mocha storm step by step in a timely manner and thus, the fatalities and damages decreased significantly compared to that of 2008 Cyclone Nagis.

Summary on 20 October

· Despite the presence of many Asian leaders including the President of Russia at the BRI Forum held in Beijing of China, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing was not invited there under the recognition as a national leader. According to political analysts, Major General Mya Tun Oo, the junta Minister of Transportation, had to join it on his behalf for such reason.

· The military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing has had a close relationship with Russia. They have even arranged to teach Russian language to the civil servants.
