NUG

  • Although the goal to support hundreds of thousands of PDF comrades monthly has so far yet to be achieved, it was possible to fulfill the requirements of the defense forces and motivate them with monthly support of their families, stated the NUG.
  • The NUG announced that people who are suffering from Omicron and COVID-19 can consult through a free online tele health clinic.
  • An online meeting of the NUG government, NUG representative Norway, U Khin Maung Myint, and the NUG support team of Norway was held in order to attempt to prevent the sale of Myanmar arm of telecom firm Telenor Group Norway to the military-related Investcom on February 18.
  • ASEAN must listen deeply to the desire of Myanmar people who want democracy in finding out the answer to the additional problems in the aftermath of the military coup, requested the NUG.

Revolution Activities

  • It was estimated that there have been 5 battles between the Putao PDF and SAC troops that killed about 70 SAC soldiers, said the PDF advocate, Ko Ayone.
  • The two Yak 130 fighter jets from Hmawbi Air Base, Yangon were attacked by bombs and one of the two jets was blasted and the radar system of the other was destroyed by shrapnel, according to the PDF that claimed responsibility.
  • One SAC vehicle patrolling on Myitawthar street, Tharkayta township, Yangon, was attacked by hand grenades and guns, said a PDF source.
  • In north Dagon Myothit township, Yangon, NDOPSC went on strike against the military junta, supporting the hunger strike at Insein prison, burning tyres and scattering papers at 5:30 p.m. Saturday morning.
  • All Burma Federation of Student Unions, North Dagon Oppressed People Coalition (NDOPSD), and the general strike committee of the spring revolution held a protest against the military junta in front of Insein prison on February 19.
  • Activists requested to report and remove SAC’s Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Wunna Maung Lwin’s Facebook account.
  • The sight and hearing impaired campaigned against the military junta from their homes supporting Khin Oo and Moebye on February 19.
  • In the Northwest Command Base, Monywa town, Sagaing region, the air force was attacked by an alliance of PDFs at 6 p.m. on February 18.
  • A rally of different villages from east Yinmarpin and north Salingyi protested against the military junta on February 19.
  • The air force in the Northwest Command Base, Monywa, Sagaing was attacked by six mortars by local PDFs on February 18 evening.
  • It was reported that IDPs Help Htantalang provided more than 2700 lakhs MMK for fire victims and war refugees from Htantalang, Chin state.
  • Junta targets in (8) quarter, 58 street and 123 street, Pyi Gyi Ta Gon township, Mandalay were attacked by handmade bombs at 3:45 p.m. on February 18 evening, said Black Wolf-MDY.
  • In the court hearing of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, the Chief Minister of Mandalay Region, on February 18, U Maung Wait stated that no money was given by hand, according to the lawyers.
  • In Shatpon village, Pulaw township, Taninthary, the houses of four locals who were abducted for no sound reason and sentenced to 20 years in prison were sealed off by the junta, according to locals.
  • Thousands of villagers from Waryisuplai village and Moebye town have been fleeing to safe places due to the heavy artillery strikes and airstrikes by the junta.
  • After the military coup, in Kyankhin township, Ayeyarwaddy, the two brothers, Thu Rein Lin, a policeman with 7-years’ work experience and Taryar Lin, a sergeant with 4-years’ work experience were sentenced to an additional one year in prison, following their three years already served just as they were about to be freed, said a family member.
  • The two civilians who passed by 432 Battalion of SAC in Moemauk township, Kachin state were shot to death by the junta, said a local source.
  • In front of Ka Ma Ya (437) of the military junta, Moemauk township, two civilians were shot dead at 10 p.m.

EAOs

  • Not less than 15 military soldiers died in Moebye battle in Karenni State on February 19 and there had been continuous intensified fighting, according to Moebye PDF.
  • In Shaingatebwan near Swampiyan village, Putao town, Kachin, the military camp was attacked by the alliance of KIA and PDF.
  • In Mainglin village, Hopone township, RCSS/SSA and the northern alliance force fought one time at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. on February 18.

Military Junta

  • SAC’s Union Minister for Information, Maung Maung Ohn said that the withdrawals of foreign companies from Myanmar were forced by their mother countries.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that selling and advertising of illegal products on Facebook pages will be subject to action according to the law.
  • SAC Embassy of Myanmar in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia stated that the people who are lying about the conditions of Myanmar workers via a Facebook page will be inspected and actions must be taken against them.
  • A group led by SAC’s Minister of International Cooperation of Myanmar, U Ko Ko Hlaing and SAC’s Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr. Thida Oo left Myanmar to attend the ICJ hearing in the Hague, stated the military junta.
  • Ko Kaung Set Lin, a photo journalist of Myanmar Press Photo Agency will be facing a hearing in court by the junta.

Summary on February 19

  • Protests across the country have been dampened by a series of arrests recently. However, the armed resistance was in great momentum.
  • Almost all of the people were starting small holder businesses for daily basic needs using social media during economic hardships due to the military coup and COVID-19. It can fulfill the basic needs of the people although it was not on a par with the pre-pandemic period. It will become a crisis if the junta takes action against online sales. The SAC is always thinking of ways to subject the people to trouble.
