Spring Revolution Daily News for 2 July 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • July 1 2023 marks the one-year anniversary of the NUG Pay. According to Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG, those who opened accounts with an activation code by paying 5000 MMK in the previous year will no longer need to pay the fee for the activation code for another year. 
  • Regarding the case of New Myanmar Education School, the inspection team conducted 11 interrogations. On Friday, Ministry of Education-NUG released their findings along with reviews and recommendations. 
  • According to No. (2) Military Sub-Region, there will be counter attacks with heavy fighting against the junta army and thus, the public are not to use some road sections in Bago Region and Mon State from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am on a daily basis. 
  • On Friday, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) appointed U Aung Kyaw Moe to be the Deputy Minister of Human Rights-NUG. 
  • In a session of the United Nations, Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun claimed that the Myanmar people had been disappointed with the statements made by the Security Council that failed to result in action. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Kawlin of Sagaing Region, a mortar fell and exploded in Kyaw Zayar Ward. Consequently, 4 locals lost their lives and 2 houses were damaged. 
  • In Kawlin, the junta army fired mortars into Kyaw Zayar Ward, killing 4 people including a child aged 8. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Pale Township, the junta army conducted air attacks on the civilians for no apparent reason. Consequently, up to 13 people have lost their lives so far. 
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Phaung Byin Township, there was a heavy battle. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died whereas 2 PDF members lost their lives. In addition, the junta army killed 2 civilians. 
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, a rally of Kyankhine Township conducted an anti-junta movement on Friday afternoon. 
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a mine attack on a military car on patrol. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers including a captain died. 
  • In Longlone Township, Dawei District Democratic Movement Committee carried out anti-junta public talks on Saturday. 
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, the junta army have been destroying local streets leading to their forces in town. 
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, there was a mine attack on a car of the junta army on their way to collect the dead body of a Pyusawti member. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers. 
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, there was a mine attack on a 12-wheel truck carrying junta soldiers. According to the ABSDF, 4 junta members died. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In KyarIn seikgyi Township of Kayin State, the junta army shot heavy artillery into 2 villages. According to Karen National Union, a local resident lost their life and two others were injured. 
  • Karenni People’s Liberation Front, which had to serve as Border Guard Force under the military junta, announced that they would join hands with the NUG and all revolution forces in the fight against the junta army. 
  • In Bawlake Township of Kayar State, Karenni People’s Liberation Front managed to shoot down a junta’s fighter jet near BGF 1005 beside Than Lwin River. 

The Military Council 

  • In Matupi of Chin State, two junta soldiers in plain clothes committed a robbery at the house of a local resident in Laungban Ward. 
  • The junta Ministry of Education announced that the full curriculum set by the National Committee must be taught at private schools to maintain Myanmar’s culture. 
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, the military junta ordered the removal of the houses and shops on Hinthada-Zalun-Danuphyu Road. They also threatened that they would do it by force and take action against those who fail to follow their instruction. 
  • On Friday, the Chair of the junta Union Election Commission met with responsible personnel from Pa-O National Party, Inn National Party and Danu National Democratic Party in Taunggyi. He also inspected their activities in accordance with the political party registration law and the by-law. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing stated that despite the economic growth in 2022-23 fiscal year, there were still necessities in foreign trade. 

Summary on 2 July 

  • The military junta has been on the verge of losing Karenni State. To get back their influence, they have used a large number of armed forces. However, the revolution forces officially announced that they managed to shoot down a junta’s fighter jet. Consequently, there might be ongoing battles with heavy fighting. 
  • The NUG got started with their offensive attacks and thus, they informed the public not to use the highways for a specific period of the day. In other words, there would be battles near towns.
