The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Karenni National New Year Day, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) sent a statement calling for unity and cooperation towards the success of the revolution from the tough journey of the Spring Revolution.
  • The NUG announced that local and foreign employment agencies were to register at the Ministry of Labor-NUG and their personal information would be kept confidential for security.
  • On Karenni National New Year Day, the NUG sent a statement with best wishes for the victory of battles in Karenni State and enjoyment of peace for local people.
  • At 10:00 am Thursday, the Central Committee on the Interim Local Administration conducted their 7/2022 meeting. Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than instructed people to systematically work in accordance with the real situation.

Revolution Activities

  • In Tamway Township of Yangon Region, a man was shot on the corner of Dama Dana and Zawtika streets at 8:55 pm Friday.
  • In Insein Prison, prison authorities have been demanding money from political prisoners, even for basic needs such as 200,000 MMK for a bed.
  • From Insein Prison, political prisoners called on the public not to take part in the water festival organized by the military junta.
  • In Yangon and Taninthayi regions, 28 people were imprisoned together with labour. Reportedly, 9 of them were sentenced to the death penalty.
  • On Thursday night, there were bomb explosions in various townships of Yangon Region.
  • In Mandalay Obo Prison, prison authorities cut off water supply for political prisoners, who just had to rely on toilet water for their general use.
  • In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, local people, protected by PDFs, have been harvesting their rice in the paddy fields.
  • As a 418-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Salingyi Township, an alliance of 8 PDFs conducted an attack with mortars and 60mm weapons at the township police station.
  • As a 387-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Kyaukmyaung, the administrator of Ywathitgone Village, allegedly a Pyusawti leader, was shot dead.
  • In Tamu Township, local PDF made inspections and conducted clearance operation on Tamu-Aungzayya Road.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a rally of CDM female students marched against the military dictatorship on Friday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Taung Pyaut Area of Thayetchaung Township, there was a telecommunication blackout on Thursday.
  • In Taninthayi Township, there was a fighting for 3 hours in Theindaw Village on Thursday. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and 2 others were injured.
  • During the junta matriculation exam period, Dawei Guerrilla opened gunfire to warn district and township education offices.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, local people marched against the military dictatorship. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Myitkyina Township, there was a bomb attack on Thursday night to clear CCTVs on the way up to Bala Mintin Bridge.
  • In Shweku Township, 6 motorboats of the junta army were attacked by the Myohla PDF at about 7:00 am Friday. Reportedly, some of them were damaged.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, there was an attack on the junta army stationed in Pakkoku University. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • According to Myanmar Police CDM Channel, a confidential instruction of the military junta went viral again. It was an instruction to make direct phone calls to the Ministry of Home Affairs as police faxes and confidential office letters had gone viral.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, the junta armed forces have been inspecting national registration cards from pedestrians.
  • Within two days of a fund-raising activity called ‘Project Dragon Fly’ to shoot down fighter jets of the military junta, Click to Donate earned nearly 9,000 lakh MMK.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, U Myint Naing, Director of Pathein-based Human Rights Watch, was sentenced to 2 years in prison on Friday.
  • At 6:15 am Thursday, there was a bomb explosion in front of the Zalun electricity office.
  • In Nyaunglaybin Township of Bago Region, there was a bomb explosion near the administration office of Tawwi Village on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, 2 police members and 2 civilians died.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Nay Pyi Taw, there was a meeting between the junta Peace Council and SSPP-SSA. Reportedly, they did not reach an agreement regarding the request of the military junta for SSPP-SSA to withdraw from some of their areas.
  • In Dimawso, Fruso, Loikaw of Karenni State and Mobye of Shan-Kayah border, there were battles between the junta armed forces and the Karenni combined force from 24 to 31 March. Reportedly, about 23 junta soldiers died. As for KNDF, they lost a member.
  • In Thantaung Township under the control of the KNU Brigade (2), a military convoy was attacked with mines at two places on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 3 others were injured.
  • In Karen State, there were battles in the area under the KNU Brigade (5) on Wednesday. According to Mutraw Newsletter, 10 BGF members and junta soldiers died.
  • Somewhere on the Thai-Karenni border, (2761) Karenni National New Year Day was celebrated on Friday.
  • KNDF Bo. 8 announced on Friday that they had successfully conducted a refresher training for their members.

The Military Council

  • The junta trade department announced that they would help importers and user businesses of plastics, iron, paper and chemicals.
  • The leader of the junta peace committee said that they would join hands with the SSPP to successfully organize a multi-party democratic election.
  • The period for the temporary change of the money ease ratio formula was extended from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.
  • According to the junta newspaper, there was a meeting at the junta municipal committee for successful celebration of the water festival in Yangon.
  • The junta minister of Cooperatives and Rural Development said that they would set up a consortium with experienced companies for the import of fertilizers with reasonable prices.
  • The military junta announced that 281,741 students from all over the country had sat for the matriculation exam on the first day.
  • On 24 March, the junta Yangon Mayor was arrested for investigation. Reportedly, he was released on Wednesday.
  • The military junta announced that they had changed the retirement of the staff to the age of 62.
  • The military junta instructed hotels, motels and guest houses to check national registration cards of their guests and not allow those without NRC to stay, starting from 6:00 am on 1 April.

Summary on 1 April

  • The military junta persuaded ethnic armed organizations and took advantage of their peace discussion. According to the junta media, they would join hands with SSPP-SSA to successfully organize the election. However, as for SSPP-SSA, they did not reach an agreement as they were told to withdraw from the areas in Shan South. The public should be aware that the military junta might weaken the revolution by creating chaos between powerful Shan EAOs.
  • In Sagaing, Magwe and Yangon, the revolution was in great momentum with the attacks of revolution forces on police stations and the junta army camps.
  • As for action in the Karen, Karenni, Chin and Kachin states, they had many battles. Reportedly, the junta armed forces had a great loss there. In towns and cities, the military junta used various ways so that guerrilla members could not hide or stay.
