The Military Council

• According to the junta Central Bank, restrictions on cash withdrawals at banks would be relieved step by step starting from September.
• The military junta announced on Monday that the period of public holidays (not including banks) would be extended from 1st to 10th September, to better control the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The military junta announced on Monday that according to Section (419) of the Constitution, the Office of Union Attorney General was transformed to be the Ministry of Legal Affairs.
• The military junta announced on Monday that according to Section (419) of the Constitution, Dr. Thida Oo was appointed to be Union Minister of Legal Affairs and Union Attorney General.

• According to the junta media on Monday, basic education schools, private schools and monastic schools would be closed until 10th September.
• The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that due to restrictions caused by COVID-19 infection in the country, the cost of manufacture went up and so did the cost of living. However, there might not be a shortage of commodities at an alarming rate.
• The junta lottery Aungbalay announced that they got (1.2) billion Kyats from the sale of lottery tickets. They would reward prize money worth 868 million Kyats or 70% of the total amount. The public budget of 250 million Kyats would also be allocated as 4 prizes of 10 lakhs, 20 prizes of 3 lakhs, 200 prizes of 2 lakhs and 2000 prizes of 1 lakh respectively.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

• Pyithu Yinkwin or People’s Embrace announced that in addition to CDM staff, there were some others in the army, who contacted them to give important information daily as a kind of helping the CDM.
• Ministry of Health- NUG announced that COVID-19 Telegram Bot could be used starting from Tuesday for easy access of COVID-19 patients to get medical treatment free of charge at Telegram channel clinics.
• The NUG announced that 8 investments worth over 3 billion US$ were to be suspended in the tenure of the military junta.
• The NUG continued to issue part (3) of the preparation plan for the public during conflicts, containing the dos in case of evacuation.
• U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights- NUG, said that the process was in progress to take action against the crimes committed by the military junta.

Revolution Activities

• In Kawlin Township of Sagaing Region, 5 military trucks were attacked with mines between Badonma village and Kyundaw village on Shwebo-Myitgyina road at about 10:00 am Tuesday.
• In Tantsi Township, 100 junta soldiers tied 9 people with rope and arrested them as hostages, according to Tantsi CDM support team.
• On Tuesday morning, Kalay people made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
• In a village of Salingyi North, local residents made a night strike of banging pots and pans on Monday against ASEAN which recognized the military watchdog.
• In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, a convoy of military trucks was attacked with mines by Pauk PDF near Daingwin village. Reportedly, there were exchanges of fire and 100 junta soldiers died.
• On Tuesday, the foreign-based Global Movement for Myanmar’s Spring Revolution called for cooperation in a global movement for the appointment of ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun as Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations.
• In Hleku Township of Yangon Region, there was an explosion on a military truck stopped in Pyidawtha Ward at about 10:30 am Tuesday. According to local residents, a junta soldier was injured.
• On Tuesday afternoon, a rally of women in Yangon expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, holding signs with anti-junta slogans.
• People’s Revolution Army announced that a financial reward of 50 lakhs and refuge would be given to the fully-armed soldiers who left the junta army.
• In Maungtaw Township of Rakhine State, the junta armed forces had arrested U Shay Kya, a Muslim village administrator. According to village administrators, they sent his dead body to Maungtaw general hospital on Tuesday morning.
• On Tuesday, a rally representing arrested people protested against the military dictatorship in Mandalay.
• On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the end of the military dictatorship.
• On Tuesday morning, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools, in cooperation with a rally representing arrested people, marched against the military dictatorship.
• In Myingyan Township, U Kyaw Myo Zin, former administrator of Thebyuwa village, was tied with his hands at his back and shot dead by the junta armed forces at about 9:00 pm Monday.
• In memory of Mg Sai Ye Yint who lost his life one month ago during the raid of the junta armed forces into the houses of Myataung rally youth, there was a salute event as well as a march against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
• In Paung Township of Mon State, young people led a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
• On Tuesday morning, Mawlamyein youth conducted an indoors strike to support the public in the fight against the military junta.
• In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, students and youth expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
• In Natthiri village of Thayetchaung Township, a combined team of junta-appointed administrators and people’s army was shot at about 11:00 pm Monday during their patrol. Reportedly, two people died in the incident.
• Through People’s Soldiers, the military officers and soldiers, who joined the CDM, expressed their apology for the crimes committed by the military on the public.
• In Muse Township of Shan North, 17 dead bodies of supposedly junta-soldiers were found near Phaikaung village on Monday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

• In Pha-Pun District under the influence of KNU Regiment (5), there were 130 battles between KNLA and the junta armed forces in August, according to Mutra newsletter on Tuesday.
• SSPP/SSA shot mortars towards villages. Consequently, two mortars fell and exploded in a village. Reportedly, local residents had to run away.
• In Monekoe of Shan North, there were battles between the junta army and a combined force of KIA+MNDAA from 28th to 31st August. According to the Kokang, many junta soldiers, including military officers, died and their weapons were confiscated.
• In Loikaw Township of Kayar State, there was fighting between KNDF and the junta army invading near Dawtahe village at about 1:00 pm Tuesday.

Summary on 1st September

• There were urban guerrilla activities all across the country. Unlike their expectation of fighting against base camps, the junta armed forces had to face revolution forces who came from nowhere. Therefore, they had a great loss. In such circumstances, it was typical of them to arrest and torture civilians.
• In Mandalay, various rallies protested against the military dictatorship every day. As for Yangon, they had some guerrilla protests with more revolution activities.
• In the areas with EAOs, the junta armed forces had a great loss.
• As for the NUG, they had been taking steps gradually for legitimacy.
