The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that concerning violent activities, ASEAN made requests only to the council, not to CRPH and the NUG.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that despite bilateral negotiations between ASEAN special envoy and the council for his visit to Myanmar, some of his requests were not negotiable.
  • The military junta announced that the lawsuits against 24 artists and 10 social media influencers under Section (505-a) were closed.
  • The military junta announced that exercising Section (419) of the Constitution, the lawsuits against (4320) people would be closed and they would be released.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing called on the public to be thrifty with the consumption of cooking oil.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The public has been taking part in the People’s Defensive War. According to the NUG, there were attacks at 11 military targets of the enemy, 8 administration targets and 11 business targets on Sunday.
  • The NUG made an announcement welcoming the understanding of ASEAN that the military junta could not implement the ASEAN 5-point consensus at all, including the breach of the junta leader for the meeting between the special envoy and all stakeholders in Myanmar.
  • The NUG called on ASEAN to make sure that the selected representative for Myanmar needs to represent the welfare and desire of the people and the country.
  • Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Risks Management announced that after the establishment of the NUG, they had supported (523) million Ks for IDPs, 750 million Ks for food security during conflicts and 204 million Ks for other humanitarian assistance so far.
  • The NUG announced that they had supported 335 million Ks for humanitarian assistance all over the country and 6-0 million Ks for IDPs in September and October during the People’s Defensive War. They have also been trying their best to continue their support for the areas under invasion in recent days.

Revolution Activities

  • On Sunday morning, there was a clash between the junta army and local residents near Sartaung in Sagaing Region. Ko Zaw Htet Aung, a student of Technological University, and Ko Zaw Myo Ko was shot dead with the accusation of being PDF member. Reportedly, another civilian was injured with a gunshot and burnt down till death.
  • In Tantsi Township, a troop of 12 junta soldiers was attacked with mines by Tantsi People’s Comrade between two villages at about 9:30 am Monday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and 2 others were injured.
  • On Monday, Kani Township PDF announced reopening the internet of MPT, Ooredoo and Telenor telecom networks within two days.
  • A combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • According to Kawlin PDF, they caught 3 trucks carrying Myanmar beer, Dagon beer and Adman Gold beer, products of the military junta, on Shwebo-Myitgyina road and destroyed the beer on Sunday.
  • On Monday morning, Monywa people marched against the military dictatorship, holding flaming torches and signs- “The dictatorship must be burnt down with revolutionary flames of Thadingyut”.
  • In Shwebo Township, local people marched for the end of the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Monywa Township, Basic Education Students’ Union expressed their desire against attending schools under the slavery education of the military junta on Monday.
  • According to Tigyaint PDF, they attacked the junta armed forces in ordinary cars on the way from Thapaitgyin to Tigyaint on Sunday night. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died, including a military officer.
  • On Monday morning, the junta armed forces conducted a violent crackdown on a rally of Mandalay youth. Consequently, many young protesters were injured and arrested.
  • Mg Mg, a focal person of Bagan Nyaung-U PDF, said that revolution activities would not be disturbed by pilgrims to the area.
  • On Monday, Mandalay-based Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship in Zaycho Market, lighting torches and candles beside the flag of a peacock.
  • According to local residents, there were bomb explosions at 4 revenue offices, the regional office of city development and the Myanmar beer factory, owned by the junta army, in Mandalay.
  • On Sunday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship.
  • On Monday, female students from Bago University led an anti-junta movement- “Unity of the mountain and the mainland”.
  • In Taungoo Township, a combined rally of students’ unions carried out a campaign in town, placing stickers for the revolution of the public, in cooperation with students, to put an end to the military dictatorship.
  • In Taungoo, Mg Mg Soe, patron and candidate of USDP in Ward 10, was shot dead by unknown people near Panswedaw Hotel on Monday morning.
  • At about 4:45 am Monday, local PDF set fire to MyTel telecom tower at Kapaungtain village in Taungoo.
  • On Monday morning, Yangon women marched against the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Thingangyun Township, a rally of women made an anti-junta movement on Monday, chanting “Uproot the junta army”.
  • On Sunday night, anti-junta youth marched for the truth and against the injustice in Yangon.
  • In Ward 13 of Hlaing Township, Rangoon Urban Revolutionaries - RUR conducted a remote bomb attack at the military iron factory at about 5:30 pm Sunday.
  • In Tontay Township, U Soe Win, junta-appointed administrator of Lagabone village, was shot dead by urban guerrilla force at about 7:00 am Monday.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, young residents of the rural community expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Monday morning.
  • On Sunday, Dawei youth made a night strike against the military dictatorship, releasing hot air balloons.
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee led an anti-junta campaign on Monday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Monekoe Township of Shan North, there was heavy fighting between MNDAA and the junta army in Phaungsai village at about 10:00 am Monday.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, a military car was attacked by Beelin KNLA on Sunday evening. Reportedly, a military officer, 4 junta soldiers and a female soldier died.
  • According to KNU, a combined troop of 160 junta soldiers arrived at Mutel village in Kyaukgyi Township on 13th October. The next day, there were 3 battles between them and
  • KNDO Regiment (3) near the village. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers, including a military officer, died and 5 others were injured.

Summary on 19th October

  • After the junta leader, Min Aung Hlaing was not allowed to join ASEAN Summit, the military junta arranged for the releasing of over 4000 people, who had been unjustly arrested. They received criticism that such activity was just buttering up ASEAN. However, ASEAN would not care as long as they fail to implement the ASEAN 5-point consensus.
  • In recent days, there were frequent battles between the junta armed forces and some EAOs; MNDAA, KIA and KNU. The military junta had a great loss there. They faced the same in Chin and Sagaing with local PDFs.
  • In recent days, public protests had decreased in Mandalay. However, there were a lot of rallies again on Monday. As for Yangon, Bago, Ayeyarwaddy and Mon, they had guerrilla protests as well as guerrilla revolution activities.
