The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Tuesday, the NUG Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Natural Disaster Risks Management announced that they had supported humanitarian aid with 100.38 million MMK in April.
  • On Tuesday, there was a meeting between the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and NUG Ministries.  Reportedly, they discussed the proposed plans for the 136 million USD which they will receive from the US government.
  • The NUG Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced that those who buy state-owned gems sold by the military junta must pay twice as compensation and legal action would be taken against them for accepting stolen goods. In addition, the junta staff who sold them would be punished as well for selling or misusing state-owned property.
  • According to Reuters, the NUG Minister of Defence called on western superpowers and the international community for support in obtaining weapons to uproot the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs and the head of the U.S Upper House at the U.S Parliament Office.

Revolution Activities

  • In Yangon Region, the Kyimyindine BEHS (3) Basic Education Students’ Union carried out an anti-junta demonstration on their one-year anniversary, holding signs saying 'The Government That Is The Best Governs The Least'.
  • In Thanlyin Township and Insein Township, the junta armed forces stopped motorbikes by firing their guns on Wednesday and confiscated them, saying that they could not be ridden anywhere.
  • In Tilin Township in Magwe Region, a policeman from Saymintaw local police station, together with his gun, joined the local PDF.
  • At 4:00 pm on Wednesday, there was a congratulatory ceremony for Dr Cynthia Maung, who received the South Korean Gwangju Prize for Human Rights.
  • In Yesagyo Township, there was an attack with 60mm and 75mm grenades on the junta army and Pyu Saw Htee Group stationed at  Zeedaw Village School at 8:30 pm on Monday. According to the YSO Guerrilla Force, eight members of the junta armed forces died and more than 15 others were seriously injured.
  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, a rally from Shwayyigyi marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In a village in Shwebo Township, there was a march for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Tigyaint Township, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta army with mines at a stream bridge on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, eight to 10 junta soldiers might have died and many others were injured.
  • On the Shwebo-Myitgyina-Kawlin road section, two junta captains in plain clothes were arrested by a local PDF.
  • South of Kalay Township, there was a strong wind at Natchaung IDP Camp on Tuesday. Reportedly, a girl aged 14 lost her life when a tree branch broke and fell on her.
  • In Kani Township, a troop of about 200 junta soldiers leaving Myatheindan Pagoda Hill was attacked with mines by local PDFs on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, no less than 20 of them died.
  • On the Shan-Karenni border, mortars shot by the junta army based in Pekone fell into Lwepansone Village on Tuesday night. Two people were injured.
  • The Federal Wings Drone Force released a video showing a bomb attack with a drone on the junta army taking shelter in a pagoda compound in Kayin State.
  • In Natogyi in Mandalay Region, the house of U Naing Htoo Aung, the NUG Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, was set on fire, in Ward (3) on Tuesday at midnight.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • South of Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, a combined force of the KNLA attacked the junta Thaybawboe camp near the Thailand-Myanmar border, starting on Tuesday night. Reportedly, they managed to take control of it on Wednesday afternoon.
  • On 15 May, there was a discussion over the cooperation of eight local CDFs in Titain Township and Tunzan Township in Chin State.
  • Officer Aye Tun from the Arakan Army (AA) called on Rakhine people not to use products from junta army corporations.

The Military Council

  • Reportedly, the junta deputy minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation inspected the Ngathayaut River water supply site in Nyaung-U Township and left instructions.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Immigration and Population, they will promote the system of tourist e-Visas to help develop the tourism sector in the country and ensure harmonious cooperation with neighboring countries.
  • On Tuesday, the junta newspaper falsely claimed that PDF members had set fire to Saungnanke Village in Pekone Township in Shan south.
  • According to the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun, U Soe Soe Zaw, the Secretary of the Yangon Regional Government, is being investigated.

Summary on 19 May

  • In addition to carrying out the tasks of a government, the NUG has gained recognition from some countries in the international community. They also called for help acquiring weapons. If such support was available, the military dictatorship could be ended very soon.
  • In Kayin State, a combination of local forces took control of the junta army camps one after another. Despite the support of air strikes, the junta armed forces were faced with a great losses and junta soldiers ran away from the battles.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta army, which was attacked with mines every now and then, kept committing war crimes by setting fire to villages and being violent towards civilians. In spite of having few weapons, revolutionary forces have made successful guerrilla attacks.
  • In Karenni State, the junta armed forces set fire to villages. However, their propaganda media falsely claimed that PDFs had set the fires. It was similar to when they lied and said that the Rohingya burnt down their own villages when, in reality, the military was committing genocide against them.
